I'm not going to miss it, nor will I be there.
I'll watch on TV.
Really, for a good number of people it's about bragging to others that you are going/were there/saw x, y and z.

Yep! For most of us, like you know, getting tix to the events we most want to see, accommodations for the stay in Eugene, airline tix etc....is all about telling our coworkers that we were at a T & F meet.

I agree. Needs to be held in a major city.
Yes! Hotels would be much cheaper in L.A., San Fran, Boston, NY....
They would, actually. Because the supply would exist.
AirBnb what's poppin . Could charge 500 a night.
This thread is cracking me up. You all are lame. Eugene is a great choice for Worlds. It’s pretty obvious that you all have never been to a meet like Pre or the Trials in Eugene, because it’s an awesome experience! Complaining about accommodations just further shows how lame you are. In this day and age it’s not that hard to figure out. You all need everything to be perfect, wow. Glad you won’t be there.
Where do you buy tickets??
What website??
My neighbor is from Eugene and his parents own a six bedroom house a couple of streets over from Pre’s Rock. A European delegation is paying them $25,000 for a twelve day rental! They don’t care about track and are going on a vacation while the meet is going on.

My relatives fly from Thailand into Portland. Two but tickets for Pre. The rest, 6 people, rent a minivan and tour Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and Hollywood for a week.
There are good inns and bed and breakfast places 1 hour to the east into the Cascade Mountain Range too.
Eugene every year! wrote:

The lack of accommodations is a valid complaint. The IAAF used to require cities have a population of 1 million, an international airport, X number of 4-star hotels etc. to bid. Unfortunately there's no other track stadium in the USA that works so Eugene is the best we have.
The World Athletics, Diamond League, Olympics prize money for T&F is so small it's not professional at all. T&F is a sport for the privileged classes and children of fascist dictators from countries such as Syria, Israel, England, Australia, China, Iran, Russia, North Korea, etc.
The problem is that Eugene is extremely lacking in quality accommodations. I agree Eugene is a cool town for running. The problem is a lot of people aren’t going to be staying in Eugene because everything has been sold out since before the dates were officially announced.

🙏🏻Thank you, exactly.

Whenever I'm in Eugene, I'm there for the T & F. I don't put much emphasis on quality digs. Have done everything from H Inn Express to off site dorms, to AirBnB apt., to dorms on campus. Have never had to stay more than 3/4 mile from the stadium. Admittedly, Worlds will be extra tight, but if you want it bad enough.....(There's a guy a few blocks away offering a hammock in his backyard with use of his bathroom/kitchen for $30/day!)

The World Athletics Mafia members will be wearing Blue Badges around their necks. Thousands of them. GFrom all over the Earth. Those are the big shots that they spend the money on. Free air fare,. Free rental cars. Free trips to the Golden Gate Bridge and Las Vegas. Very little prize money is left for the winners. They decide everything based what is good for the World Athletics Mafia members only. Seb Coe is the World Athletics Mafia Godfather.
My friends will be with their national teams, friends, family, kids at training camps in L.A. then fly into Eugene and take a Uber just for their events.
My Mom coached at a DI in 1999. When her team competed at nats in Boise we flew from Europe to LAX and went to Disneyland, Sea World, Universal Studios, Venice Beach, San Diego Zoo, Huntington Beach, etc. That was my fist American holiday. We never did go to Boise for nats. That wasn't the point.
Are they going to have the stupid English announcers again? At least they can explain why England didn't fight the Nazis in WWII and just cooked food, carried bullets and bombs, and drove supplies.
My wife and I live in Colorado and go to meets in Eugene whenever we can.
I checked on available seats, yesterday. There were no seats for days 8-10, but there were plenty of seats for days 1-7. I was even able to find a room in the motel where we always stay. However, it was $450 per night.
To attend this event would cost us over $900 per day for tickets, motel, and food. This doesn't include the cost of transportation to and from Eugene. We decided that even the World Championships are not worth this amount of money.
As long as Keely has a nice place to stay, I'm not bothered.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
