Where will these people stay? Once you get tickets try finding a place to stay and if you can find a place hope you have a big bank account.
Such a mistake holding this meet in a town the size of Eugene

I agree. Needs to be held in a major city.
30K of those tickets are fans from Oregon with vacation homes, family, friends in the area or that will commute from Portland. I have heard that Nike and adidas will be running motor coaches from Portland for their employees and guests. If you waited to buy tix or to book a stay, then it is too late. Rent a car in Portland, get a hotel or Air BnB in Tualatin or Wilsonville, and enjoy the three hours of round trip driving each day that you have seats.
We all just hope that idiot governor doesn't ruin the championships with some stupid new Covid rule. Here's a thought... if you're old, fat, diabetic, have heart issues, etc DON'T COME. The view is better on your tv at home anyway, and far less walking and better food.

Yes! Hotels would be much cheaper in L.A., San Fran, Boston, NY....
Hopefully people in the area will give up their homes and dorm rooms in Air Bnb, VRBO, etc. deals.
Doubtless nearly all of that is multiple tickets to the same people eager to endure the endless monotony of two weeks of heats and semis.
Track thinks it's a tennis major or something.

10 days, not 14.

You make a great point. If it’s too late, it’s bad business. If your city doesn’t have the infrastructure to temporarily house 100k vacationers, find a new city. Who were the other bidders? It’s asinine to expect people to Over 90 minutes. How many idiots go to track trials in sac town and commute from SF? It’s just stupid.

There weren't any other bidders. It was awarded to Eugene without bidding.
Nothing fishy about that at all. I'm sure Nike had nothing to do with it.
it's corrupt. it never sold to fans. it has a small TV viewership .very little prize money for medalists. instead 95% of the money is spent on the national Federation staff and dignitaries.
While I'd love to attend in Helsinki, London, Rome, Zurich etc...thats just not in the cards at the moment. Travel trailer parked nearby and a short bike ride into campus will have to do.
It's so disrespectful, disgraceful, insulting, and embarrassing for our sport to be relegated to mickey mouse fishing holes like this. It's not the first time this has happened with the WCs. They keep bungling this event over and over again.
These 100,000 tickets just went to sponsoring partners.
Almost nobody will be there except the Brojos and we can stay in their AirBnB for free if you are a VIP Supporter.

Honestly, it's easier to travel to those cities and most cities in Asia than to Eugene. And there are thing to do there. I will wait for Budapest.
You're all nuts! Have you never been to the Trials? It's a frigg'in fantasy festival for track nerds. EVERYWHERE you look is another elite runner, coach, agent, official, former Olympian.... Walk out your door & in 5 minutes you're on the most pristine trails you'll ever encounter. And the trails are crawling with runners you'll recognize. The stadium is the bomb (coming from someone who bellyached about them demolishing the old one). Organized group runs take place most every morning (Brooks, Hoka,....) where you'll snag a free shirt or some other swag. Killer waterfalls nearby. Crater Lake an easy drive. / And I'd love to see our mono linguist Americans negotiate a city where English is not the first language. It would be a cluster fudge.

Agreed. I'm giving Worlds a pass this year. If we want to increase popularity of our sport, holding it in a podunk lil town is not the way to do it.
I met 5 people from Europe and Australia at Doha 2019, who bought tickets for Worlds in Eugene. None of them have been able to find accommodations. I have wished them luck and reminded them that I did tell them that accommodations was going to be a problem.
I suspect a substantial portion of those tickets have been given to corporate sponsors. I don't buy the "sold" argument. I was in Doha 2019 where you could not find a ticket to buy, yet stands were empty and the government had to give away free seats to citizens on several nights, the same nights that if you went to the ticketing websites days before every seat was sold out.
I wish the athletes and those who will attend Worlds this year well.

I'm waiting for Budapest as well. Eugene is the only one I will miss since 2005.

All of these organizations are corrupt.
