How many paces do you use in your marathon training?
I use easy, steady, marathon pace, lactate pace and 10k pace.
So 5 paces in total.

If you want to do it my DANCAN system way there are 3 main paces , 5 k race pace , about half marathon race pace and the steady run pace.
Some YouTuber in Colorado says that there are 17 different types of runs that you must do to be a good marathon runner. He couldn't break 3 hours at NYC so take that into consideration.

What do you mean by steady pace?
How come no easy/recovery pace?

Steady pace is about 70-75 % of max heartrate. Then of course a runner needs very slow pace when needing extra recovery sometimes after race or tough workout.

Recovery, Easy, Steady, MP, HMP, 5-10k pace, strides
That's 7 but they all blur together really. I just run whatever pace I feel I need to to achieve the purpose of the session.

Then you get good walking up hills. ))
I feel like you can get by with 3 main groups -- easy, threshold, goal marathon pace.
Most weeks, you're going to do mostly easy runs, 1 threshold workout, & a long run with or without some goal pace mixed in. You touch on speed with strides & you probably do a handful of workouts at 5k/10k but not many during a build.
