First, why do you say "i think i have" if you dont know what the symptoms are?
At any rate I had a LONG battle with it (God willing it is over!) and the big teller was that I could run distance, tempo (at the correct effort, by the way), even most repetitions as long as there was not a requirement for maximum effort. So if I had to race, I would feel great at the start and then absolutely blow up about half or 2/3 way in. The same if there was a workout for maximum effort.
Take time off, and dont be shy about it. I took only 3 or 4 weeks off after having it for 5 months, trained a whole summer just fine (remember it was not maximal effort) just to have it go to waste when I later found out I still had reminants. Six more weeks off.
Go to a doctor, get blood testing done, make sure they check for the epstein barr antibody as well as iron, hemaglobin, etc. as the symptoms of Mono can be like those of other problems.
Go for the state meet. If you suck, get tested and hopefully youll have a reason why you sucked. Then dont run (or do anything working-out like) for a month or two and eat a higher protein diet for that time.
Thanks, well, I know a few of the symptoms. That was actually really helpful. I was expecting one of the usual letsrun posts such as:
Get over it and run.
I had mono, Like the other poster said. Just take time off and dont be shy. Mono can definantly knock you on your ass. You just have to let it run its course.
