Currently in a 36-month lease. Is it possible to trade-in this car for something bigger or something used? I've had the car for just around 4-5 months.
Anyone have much experience with leasing a vehicle?

Clearly you should have thought ahead before leasing your current car. Good going moron.

Buy American. Keep your local auto repair shop in business.
The reliability of the average American car is now significantly better than the reliability of the average European car. Japaneese still best either by quite a bit.

Hey Nut, Edsel, and Danny. F*** off you pricks! Wish I has as much time as you three to simply reply to any and every post just to be a******s.
read the lease. i'm sure it's possible but there will be penalties. you did, after all, sign on for 3 years.

Try this...
Most of those earlier comments were, while harsh, correct.
You CAN trade it in, but it will cost you loads of cash. Call your leasing company, ask for the amount they need to pay off the lease as if you were going to buy that car. Then compare that payoff figure to what you are offered as a trade-in amount. You will probably find out that you are at least a few thousand dollars "upside down". You will need to bring that amount of money into a new deal just to take care of the negative equity.
Depending on your credit profile and the advance guidelines of the bank/leasing company for the new car you MAY be able to roll that negative equity into your new deal. I would NOT recommend this as you will then be in an even worse financial position on the new car. The person that is trying to sell you the new car will downplay this. Don't believe them.
Suck it up and drive the car for the rest of the lease.
