Did he DNF? Didn't see him in the final results, or at least not in the top twenty.

He DNFed
Why?
I was wondering the same thing. He was with the lead pack at mile 14 or so, wasn't he?
According to the marathon site he was leading at 1/2 way.
True, but he is nowhere to be found at the 10k split according to that site. Weird.
Too bad, I thought he was going to pop a good one. He has always carried his arms high, but look at the photos from Track and Field News as the break is made. He seems to be out of sync in the photos.
"Former Manchester Road Race winner Mark Carroll, an Irish runner who lives in Providence, dropped out after 191/2 miles because of a nagging hip injury."

I saw him around 17/18 and he looked like he was doing pretty well. About 1 minute behind the leaders. When I was at the 24 mile mark, nowhere to be seen.
MEN: After 15 miles in the men's race, a group of about 20 runners were bunched going onto the Queensboro Bridge, which is the second toughest hill on the course. As they started downhill, Italy's Alberico Di Cecco suddenly broke free and sprinted into a 15-metre lead.
It was as if he had poked a hornet's nest with a stick. Buzzing after him were half the lead group, including defender Ramaala, Haile Negussie, Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, Mebrahtom (Meb) Keflezighi, Abdi Abdiraman, Tergat and Irishman Mark Carroll.
When Di Cecco made his break, said Keflezighi, "I asked Mark Carroll, 'Who's that guy?' and he said, 'He's a 2:08 guy.' So I thought I'd better go after him.”
