He was hired just a few months ago to be an assistant and was just named the head coach.
Overall, luck is the most important factor in deciding who coaches where. Plenty of great coaches toiling away in places where it's impossible to compete with the top schools while plenty of terrible coaches get their shot at places that have the potential for success.
Cincinnati - Assistant Coach
It came from Anonymous.
Andrea groove and her minions is definitely out at Toledo. New administration is fed up with incompetence and cleaning house. T&F kids are transferring and giving up, a once successful team now in shambles.
Auburn, UConn, SFA, North Texas and the ‘major’ director openings but no real info on who the front runners are
Rogers coach isn’t going anywhere. Just some hopeful people out there
Hahaha that's a good one
word on the street says different.
Didn't they just make nattys in xc?
Andrea does a lot of self promotion indeed , but No, Toledo didn't made Cross Country Nationals since she took over! They are far from it despite sacrificing a well rounded team to be average in the fall. Interesting to see what team Andrea will screw next. Good luck to UConn or whoever shes conning to get the next gig.
I am not sure what Toledo was before her arrival, but seems to me she’s recruited very well and developed those athletes she’s brought in and adopted. Her next incoming class looks to be an excellent one. I would give this another year or two and then judge from there. That team should be an XC National qualifying one by then.
Grove, well I do think she'll be on the move but not from being fired. What really happened at UNC anyway? How long was she there a 18 months or so?
Who gets the Wisco gig? Big name or up-and-comer?
“I am not sure what Toledo was before her arrival”
Then, Why do you even struggle to make an argument if you are too lazy to take that time and research. Have you heard of tfrrs? Good place to start.
While at it, Toledo had a very successful distance crew, but also NCAA level throwers, sprinters and jumpers, all that before Grove arrival. Nobody is saying they were a powerhouse in those events, but they were competitive at Conference level.
Not sure where a D2 coach, whose teams finished 5th (Women) and 9th (Men) in the conference xc championships and didn't have a single All Conference runner, would go. Not a hot coaching prospect.
Didn’t struggle to make an “argument”. You seem to be the only one doing such. I am only going to speak on what I know I don’t speak on things I don’t know. I spoke my truth I have no reason to snoop. I see the recruiting class I see the development of athletes. You have an ax to grind that’s none of my business
What is an NCAA level kid? Looking back through their TFRRS and guess we have different opinions on what NCAA level means.
Fair enough. Please proceed by telling us what is your definition of an NCAA level kid first, and how many of those women has Grove recruited and developed at Toledo in her 4 years stink.
