Rupp would step on his heels for like 6 miles.

I can't wait. Great to see him run a hillier race. Most 2:03 or 2:04 guys would shart themselves at the thought of running anything that isn't pancake flat but this is Bekele terrritory. The last hilly race he did was the Switzerland 10 miller in 2018. He destroyed the field and he was only doing minimal training that year. Imagine the carnage that will be left behind him in New York. He should run a CR of 2:04 if the weather plays ball but a win should be easy for him anyway. He wasn't prepared enough when he ran Berlin and would of run the WR if he had an extra month to train for Berlin
You cant possibly believe Bekele will run a 2:04 on a hilly course after a 2:06 on the fastest course there is? Yeah they went out way too fast, but if he is in 2:04 cr shape on a hilly course he should've at least been able to win that race
never know with Bekele. He seems to get into shape quickly and possible he wasn't for Berlin. Wasn't it 2011 he didn't finish the 10,000m in WC and then shortly after did a 26:43?
of course he could just be too old now.
Bekele is in good shape. He's going to wreck this course at 2:03:30!
This is fantastic, and a solid opportunity for Bekele run for the win without the pressure of attempting to better the world record. This course suits Bekele's (historical) strength, and with the HM world record holder debuting, he may be able to take advantage of the newbies speed while simultaneously exploiting his marathon inexperience. A course record is certainly a possibility!
True. I echo your sentiments
Finally. He should be recovered enough to race well here. This is gonna be very exciting. I think he can win. People always underestimate him.

He'll likely run for the win so he won't get close to this assuming he could in the first place which is a stretch.
Reading the last few posts, Bekele will win and run a 2:08.
I'm shocked at how little people are talking about Abdi Nageeye - he's shown nothing for any of us to believe that the Olympic silver medal was a fluke. I think he's gonna pull off an upset, even though it really shouldn't be an upset, you guys are just way too ignorant to include anyone else in your list for the favourites. I think it's gonna go down like this:
Abdi Nageeye 2:05:45
Kenenisa Bekele 2:05:59
Kibiwott Kandie 2:08:14
Albert Korir 2:08:38
Callum Hawkins 2:09:26
Ben True 2:10:42
Ghirmay Gebreselassie 2:10:52
Jared Ward 2:11:29
Girma Bekele Gebre 2:13:33
I feel like this one's gonna be fast, Bekele really has something to prove here but I feel like Nageeye is just too good.
We all know what happened to the previous silver thon medalist in the Olympics. Shat the bed in London 2017 and literally fell off the earth since
It hasn't been too long since Tokyo so I think he'll get something together.

oh my godness, is going to be an amazing race from both, Seth is going to be in the elite group, so imagine Seth running side by side of Bekele the vlog is going to explode!!! Work Hard, seek beauty and stive for greatness!!!

Big fan of both, but I don't see either running under 2:12 for this race. I think they're going to get sucked into a pace that's too fast and blow up, or they'll get dropped early and be "stuck" in the lonely runners gap. I (really) hope I'm wrong, and would be happy if both ran amazing top 10 finishes. We'll see...
I think Kandie's capability is underestimated. Would be surprised if he is indeed 2.5 min behind the winner.
Is it really that hilly? Is it still flat until Central Park or has the couse been changed? I've run in the park a few times and it was only moderately hilly. In the past, people have run fast times there including Salazar's WR.
Bekele was already confirmed no? Or did we just doubt if he would show up? Think NYC suits him. I've always been a fan. One of the biggest stars to run NYC. Great get for them.
2:07:09
I do not know who Seth Demoor is, but he is not in the elite field.
I think that Ben True is gonna blow up, and Ward is going to try to run his own race and end up never getting a taste of the lead pack. I wouldn't be surprised if the pace was quick and True went 63-67, the guy has grit and when he wants to qualify for something, he runs his heart out. Ward is really relying on this race to qualify for Worlds so he will attempt to play it smart, but will still lose all the same. He's just not in sub 2:10 shape, and never was.
