My only prediction is that the trip to NYC will be profitable for Kenny B.
I can't wait. Great to see him run a hillier race. Most 2:03 or 2:04 guys would shart themselves at the thought of running anything that isn't pancake flat but this is Bekele terrritory. The last hilly race he did was the Switzerland 10 miller in 2018. He destroyed the field and he was only doing minimal training that year. Imagine the carnage that will be left behind him in New York. He should run a CR of 2:04 if the weather plays ball but a win should be easy for him anyway. He wasn't prepared enough when he ran Berlin and would of run the WR if he had an extra month to train for Berlin

Literally?
Yeah will be an exciting race. For all the naysayers I've gotta say he's got some balls to run two elite marathon races back to back so closely. Most wouldn't even dream of doing two marathons spaced less than 3-6 months apart, let alone 6 weeks. Go Kenny!

Thank god banana bread is back so I can read some proper Bekele hype. I'm not too sure about his shape, but I will be cheering.

I don’t even think you know what is your troll alter ego and what is real anymore. Posting under multiple handles and playing different characters for as long as you have will do that to you.
Regarding Bekele: just a paycheck for him. Look for 2:10-2:14 and waaaaaay off the back.
And there we have it......." naysayer" lol
When anyone says Bekele is confirmed, especially The Idiotic Runner, all it means is that speculation is now rife that he might actually run NYC.
I do hope he gets his marathon WR wish, remote as that possibility seems at his age and in NYC, so his running soul can rest in retirement peace.
Kibiwott Kandie will win the race.

I thought this was announced way back in August and Letsrun put out an article with Jos saying he's doing two back-to-back to keep himself motivated and in shape.
I actually think a Marathon where he's not going for a WR will be beneficial for him and he's proven in the past that hills are his forte so excited to see what he can do
Assuming reasonably cool and clear weather, he runs like the HMFIC and finishes top 4. Gooooo, Kenny!!!
DNF because he's a quitter. Unless he is paid to finish the race. Will he be paid to finish? The money may not deter his ego though. Sure he's also a great champion, but the fact is he has quit nearly every race that he will not win. Sore loser. Again, no disrespect to his other credentials, but these are all facts.
Shalane will beat him.
Interesting.
I hope Bekele does run. New York is one he could win. Meb won NY. If Meb can win NY, Bekele can win New York. There's no guarantee, and I don't think he'd be the favorite. But if things go his way, and he has a good day, absolutely, Bekele could win New York.

Didn't he run 2:06 in Berlin? Maybe Berlin wasn't a great race for him this year, but New York runs a solid minute or two slower than Berlin... So I'd be shocked if he runs faster than 2:05:30... Anyway, I could see him running a high 2:05 or low 2:06 and happens to win it. But I don't understand how very few people are talking about Kibiwott Kandie running his marathon debut. He ran the world half marathon record like a year ago, 57:32, waaaaay faster than Bekele ever did. And he is in form, running a sub 27:00 10k road race earlier this month. I think a guy like that could shock the world and run 2:05 at New York or possibly even 2:04 setting the course record. He is my favorite to win the race, I don't care about the other 2:03-2:06 guys in the race from pancake courses who only have a 59 minute half marathon to their names.

eh, in a couple cases sure he quit but I wouldn't say that's the norm. Let's look at his non-winning marathon races.
2015 Chicago Marathon 4th place
2016 London 3rd place
2017 Dubai DNF - I'd argue this is valid since he fell/trampled at start
2017 London - 2nd place
2017 Berlin DNF -
2018 London 6th place
2018 Amsterdam DNF
2021 Berlin 3rd place
So yeah...5 races he still finished when not going to win. A couple DNF's that he probably could have finished and one DNF that I think is valid.
Bekele is lucky Rupp isn't running NYC.
