Think of it as enhanced quality of life.
Probably some of the reasons trails/ultra world is growing so fast at the moment. Modern track and road scene is no longer relatable to the average Joe.
4 years out from college, I am finally losing my identity as a temporarily out-of-shape 800m runner, and instead see myself as a guy who needs to lift weights and run 4-5 easy miles for fun sometimes.
Along with this is a drastic reduction in how much I care about pro track. They aren't people to look up to, they are my age, talented beyond their own comprehension, and often incredibly uninterested in running outside their own "job". Didn't even watch the Olympics this year.
I increasingly like college track, though. So idk what the deal is.
