Better than in Berlin, Chicago and Boston !
Better weather today in Paris & Amsterdam. I didn't think Paris was known as a super fast course. Seems like a lot of good results today.
Great race. Anyone have pay-outs? Prize money/performance bonus information?

You pose a good question but I don’t have that information all I know is that the official prize money is very low like €1500 for a win and €1500 extra of the course record is broken so officially the winner got €3000 but I suspect he got more than that with deals made with the organizers including deals to promise to come back.
Include a link on the French winner, Durand, Who comes from the southwest French city of Bergerac, a city more famous for its wine and good food than marathon runners. That may have changed now with this wind by the Bergerac city boy, Yohan Durand.
https://www.sudouest.fr/dordogne/bergerac/marathon-le-bergeracois-yohan-durand-bat-son-record-personnel-6589431.phpYohan Durand. As can be seen from his track best here, DURAND has very impressive track credentials from the past. This can be seen by the way he runs with a very erect style and good body position and very good foot placement contrary to heel strike. He is a forefoot striker. it also has to be acknowledged that with the advent of the super shoes these athletes have a significant advantage these days. Less tiredness and impact in the quads and other muscle areas of the legs promote much better ability to sustain a fast pace during the marathon without breaking down. This case this athlete broke his best time by three minutes.

Durand he’s 36 years old so time is of the essence and let’s hope he can keep going until Paris 2024.
By the way a very disappointing run for another Frenchman, Hassan Chahdi, 209 Marathon runner who faded but finished the race apparently in around 250. He’s a very low mileage man, normally only trains once a day and around 50 miles a week or 80 km per week.
doesnt ethiopia or kenya have any marathons where their runners can participate instead of gang banging all the marathons around the world.
What happened to Carvalho?
His PBs at 800-3k are better, and has half is much better 1:00:58. He's also 4 years younger. Expected better from him, but who knows how his training went.

They have normal training runs with deeper fields than Valencia marathon :)
But they are running to earn living, and that can be done only abroad. Even more, new WorldAthletics rules requires any Gold Label marathon to invite 6 top Eastern Africa guys (to be more precise, 6 persons from Top-150 list, but very few non-african guys like Rupp there will be way more expensive to invite).
We all know that the best performance in Paris was Bekele's debut 2:05:04 there in 2014, long before super shoes helped all these runners we have never even heard of(and who's names we can't even pronounce or remember if we tried) to suddenly come out of nowhere and run 2:04s
Carvalho pulled out at the 30 km mark. He was very fit having won the French 10,000 m track championships a few weeks ago in 2755 one minute ahead of the opposition but something must’ve gone wrong in the marathon. I always thought he looked too big to be a marathon runner as he’s a classic mesomorph, built like a Greek God with muscles all over the place on his body. Looks more like a middleweight boxer in my opinion.

In France, the Portuguese have a phenomenal reputation is hard-working house builders, what we call in French « Des maçons d’un niveau absolument exceptionnel - les meilleurs sur le marché. »
Here in the video on Instagram we can see him pulling out around the 30 km mark with what appears to be hamstring muscle trouble.
More specifically he had cramps in his two hamstrings at the 30 km mark. He said in his Instagram post that if he had not had this problem with cramps he feels he would’ve been able to finish easily with Durand, who ran 2:09:+ he said that this is a problem that he needs to solve for the future.

Hassan Chahdi was running Paris to prepare Seville marathon in February 2022 where he wants to qualify for the World Championships in Eugene. From what I understand, his goal was only to run a fast half marathon and just to finish quietly after that.
The true disappoitment on the French side is Florian Carvalho was was going to finish with Durand if he's not cramping. Florian is a wonderful athlete and truly deserves to break the 2:10 wall.
@Ghost: And by the way, Chahdi's mileage is rather low for an elite marathoner but he ran far more than what you said (more around 150 km by week when he prepares a marathon).
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
