I agree. She's awful. Unbearable even. If I had to be around her for 5 minutes I'd contemplate suicide.

Salazar wasn’t a high school coach, you moran. He was privately contracted by Nike to coach these athletes and everything said ,while not sugar coated, was pertinent to improving the athletes’s running performance. The laughable ‘ban’ was instated by a bunch of clueless sheeple.
So you have no facts to support “ogling”, but wondered what waiting for more facts meant.
I ask, without insult, what is it if not personal projection? Honestly.
In other words, the terms and expressions “ogling” and “thoroughly investigated the teenager’s breasts and bottom” came from you.
Your selected quotes are offensive, but do not rise to the level of “sexual misconduct”.
We also have no facts telling us which conduct was considered “sexual misconduct”, so it is up to each person’s imagination, which gives us a window into their soul.
Regarding Salazar and being a nice guy, this 50-something in a power position was in fact suspended and is no longer a Nike coach, after the investigation.
Oh my god, he said the butt word, ban him for life!
Hopefully this come across as a personal attack but this, and your other posts, are on the fringe of being batsh!t crazy, "Ogling", "Thoroughly investigated...", etc.,?
Do you walk around with excessive pejoratives at the ready for all or just Nike/Salazar? I'm sure professional athletes sleep well at night knowing you'll be there to protect them if they get their feelings hurt.
You should turn your talents to women's gymnastics; that surely has to be a target rich environment for someone like you.
Cain certainly has the right to sue, Nike/Salazar has the right to defend themselves, and both will have to live with the consequences.
Watts per Kilogram.
Science doesn't care what your feelings are.
Dudes got it from AlSal too.
Remember the quote from Mark Wetmore in Running With the Buffaloes: "XC runners should look like a skeleton with a condom pulled over it"
....AlSal is a complete doosh but he was one of the best and most successful coaches ever because he too, knew that science doesn't care about your feelings.
Cain was way too young to be put with that level of coach straight oof HS.
Growing up entitled and sheltered left her woefully unprepared for the harsh reality of NOP....and real life in general.
I suspect Mary is neurodivergent (perhaps on the autism spectrum.) Cues like her social awkwardness, difficulty in navigating social relationships, her posture and appearance, etc. suggest she may struggle with these social aspects. This may contribute to her difficulties in handling the stress of elite training and competition - autistic meltdown, for example, often affects high achieving people who exhaust a lot of energy appearing “normal.” This leads to great stress and pressure.
If this is the case, Salazar’s methods would be even more destructive.
She wants the spotlight which is the opposite of autism.

I need to watch her being interviewed, but based on what I've seen and read so far, this accurately summarizes the situation.
As far as her being neuroatypical....again, I need to see her on camera, but immaturity sounds like the better explanation. Footy's comment is spot on.
Jfc. Posts were saying they could not be saved, but of course they were going through. I asked to have the repeat posts taken down. LRC, please delete this once the repeats are gone. Thanks so much.

You can say that again...
The thread about this on the Track & Field News Forums is a lot more civilized. It gets heated a bit and people do get on each other for varying opinions but overall there aren't the misogynic comments being directed against all females like the ones that you can find here. This place really is a fuking cesspool.
This is a stupid ploy to fund her women's track club. Mary, you are done competing, stay out of the sport. Go back to your white privileged life in NY.
Mary should sue the Cliff Bar company as well for enabling her destructive behavior double fisted-ly.
Not a good comparison, Wilson and Rogers where both 400/800 types and I know both of these athletes and the weights you listed are about 4 lbs. heavier than their competition weight.
Why would anyone want to coach girls nowadays if she wins?
My last post on this subject.
First off, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of working with suburban upper middle class kids. When you are getting support from the school and kids have successful, educated parents with money, a lot of problems are solved. With that said, a big problem that you do face with suburban upper middle class kids is that the parents often see their kids as a reflection of themselves. A senior executive at a company expects their kids to be successful in the same way they are. They will not accept their kid not traveling to an invitational meet for example, even if it is ok with the kid. If the kid is not performing well, then you must be a bad coach. I once had a parent run off a list of coaching books and asked me which ones I've read. This parent also asked me if I was USATF certified? At that point in my coaching I hadn't read any of the books mentioned and probably hadn't given any thought to USATF certification. A parent once told me their son is a winner because he was a straight A student and I made the mistake of telling the parent that running a sub-2 (800) was more difficult. This parent tried to get me fired basically because I wasn't taking their 2:20x (800m) son to the Penn Relays.
I've also had a couple situations very similar to Mary Cain's where it was clear puberty was slowing down their daughters progress and/or the physical development was such that they would benefit from a larger and or different type of uniform and I practically started WWIII. With athletes from certain types of backgrounds, when things are going well, the kids and parents love you, but you will see a very bratty attitude from the parents and kids when things are not going so well. Obviously I am generalizing based mostly on my own experience. The main problem with this particular demographic is parents try too hard to makes sure their kids don't face any adversity and then when adversity comes the kids either buckle under or worst find someone to blame.
Exactly my point when I wrote earlier in the thread that Mary Cain is the ultimate example of white privilege that has never worked a real job and has rich 1% white parents who obviously are enabling her to be this conceited and blame everyone else but herself and her parents for her own faults.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
