She could run 2:27-2:28. Running 2:46 is not that hard on her. Once she is done with this, she will take a break. She is 40 and fitter than 95% of top marathoners. She’ll be fine.
I assume you say the same about Dean Karnazes and Pete Kostelnick? No? Why is that?
What does fitter than 95% of top marathoners even mean? Dude, don’t make up ridiculous statements and stats like that. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
She’s old and has had both knees redone. I’d say that’s the subject matter of the OP’s original concern rather than your insinuation otherwise. You know that, so give it a freaking break.
That’s dude-ETTE to you.
It means she is fitter and faster than 95% of very good female marathoners.
She could run 2:27-2:28, which is faster than 95% of semi-elite. Of course that statistic is an estimate, but it is not that far off.
She is 40 - not old. Who cares if she had both knees redone? Have you seen the times she is running? So…let me repeat…this is not hard for her.
I run a ‘mere’ 80-90 miles a week. If I went out and did back to back 20 milers, it would be hard, but hardly deathly…even though I had a Haglund’s repair on one side (2 years ago) and an Achilles tear repaired from soccer (more years than I would care to admit ago) . But to a runner who runs 10-20 mile weeks, it sounds ludicrous, silly, stupid, and dangerous.
LetsRun is, supposedly, a place where educated runners discuss (or, discus as the erudite few say) such items. As runners, the majority of us who are NOT the 10-20 mile a week variety, we should see this isn’t that crazy of a deal for her. Far from Shalane ‘going home devastated’, she seems to have this under control.
