35 year old male runner. Not overly talented, and running again since about February. Starting to gain some momentum in training and build some mileage, and complete some I-pace and T-pace workouts.
Question: what exactly is the difference in the effect of E-pace training vs. I-pace workouts. Seems, at times, words like “aerobic capacity” and “V02 max” are used interchangeably (however, probably not accurately so). Am I correct that E-pace mostly affects the formation of greater blood vessel utilization, more mitochondria, more blood plasma, etc., and that I-pace helps the body use the existing physiology in the most efficient way possible? It seems like your pace in an I-pace workout is largely conditioned on whatever already exists physiologically, mostly through long aerobic efforts, hence the reason I-pace is given a very specific pace to follow (i.e. faster or slower doesn’t most efficiently stress the V02 max).
That might be a lot of rambling, but clarification would be appreciated!
