Yared Nuguse isn't turning Pro & Trash-Talks NAU

Was a fan of Nuguse, but he burned me at the Olympics.

Going to hold on to him by pressure so he can be with all his bros; same guilt trip they threw at Siedel right after she had a great NCAA Indoor meet. Sparks/Carlson classless.

Honestly, not going pro with the season he just had (especially with already having a 1500m title), AND not toughing out a lap or two at the Olympics are two of the stranger things I’ve seen in the sport.

That pretty much sums up Sparks and Carlson. They only care about XC. Probably told Yared not to run in Toyko....for risking an injury that would hurt Notre Dame being a podium team in the fall for cross.

Did Nuguse actually "trash talk" NAU or merely mention that there is no reason that ND shouldn't beat NAU? There's a big difference and stating that he believes that there's no reason that ND shouldn't beat NAU hardly qualifies as "trash talk." Methinks that you might be trying to create drama where none exists.

I know that the "experts" are picking NAU as the favorite but as much as I don't like any Irish athletic team, I would tag them as the favorites. They seem deeper than the Lumberjacks to me. Grijalva's departure from NAU creates a huge void. I was ready to put Oregon really close to NAU & ND but Hocker's pro announcement changes that. The Ducks still have a ton of talent and should be in the mix but will not contend for the overall title this fall.

I haven't been a Desi Linden fan since her 2012 olympic marathon, or Ryan Hall in 2012 olympic marathon. Something about clearly being hurt, not ready, and still taking a spot rubbed me wrong.

And as a result I am not a Yared Nuguse fan.

Thank you for bringing it back. I was confused why they'd delete it considering it didn't violate any of the rules.

Because it was deleted, I started a different thread so feel free to merge or delete that one. One of the things I added though was how Nuguse will be betterr than Hocker in the coming years. Here's why he'll beat Hocker. Nuguse is a ton better of an Aerobic runner. He does amazing on the grass considering his 1500m background (multi-time All-American in XC). Hocker is very limited in his events (800-1500) whereas Nuguse is just as good at 1500 and can also run a good 10k. Because of this base, Nuguse will have the longer career. Hocker will be like Alan Webb. Mostly injured with a few really good years. Hocker has said before he barely ran any milage in HS (30mi per week tops) so he clearly doesn't have the same aerobic engine that Nuguse does.

While it shouldn’t have been deleted, this thread is incredibly dumb.

Saying that he thinks ND can win xc isn’t “trash talking” NAU. Do kids these days know what trash talk is?

Also, he was absolutely devastated about getting hurt and having to pull out of the Olympics. If you dislike him because his dreams were crushed then you are a pathetic person.

Funny to see a post about drama in the distance world. What are they doing, fighting over a bread stick?

It happened just a few days out and he thought it would recover well enough by race day to go. It wasn’t. What about that is unreasonable?
