I know women high jumpers are skinny but god, that girl looks
emaciated. She needs to eat something and lift some weights.
The best female high jumpers are all built that way...tall lean and no butt. If they put on weight it goes straight to the butt and down goes the bar.
Vashti is not explosive enough. If you watch the top three Lasitskene, Manuchikh and McDermott they all have a more rounded approach then arched entry followed by firing their legs upward and clear. Cunningham is similar but somewhat lacking in all three phases. She has a monotonous run up, overly flat trajectory, and not nearly enough ferocity in kicking those lower legs outward over the bar and then back over her head.
Big underachiever. She really hasn't improved in years. Stuck just below the 2 meter mark , more often than not. That's fine but the huge events require considerably above that. Lasitskene cleared 2.04 in 2019, 2.04 in Tokyo and 2.05 in Diamond League finals. Manuchikh is capable of similar. McDermott went from below Cunningham to now above and she's only a year older.
