I'm not that talented, I just work really hard. What's your time and what's your training like?

I went on a date with sham and she was probably the nicest young lady I’ve ever met. She had no problem being a bottom. But sue also has very little stamina, which is probably why she chose bottom. No way she can even do one sub 10 mile. Let alone 2.

What races are you running lately? I doubt they let fifth year high school seniors be on the xc team

I’ve seen your other posts. Don’t kid yourself. You don’t work very hard and you’re not fast. You’re just slow and lazy. You invited this criticism.
Obviously it's mean to criticize other people's training and effort but I don't think the OP is far off. The day that I can no longer comfortably run a 8:00 mile is the day I quit running. It's not that 7 something pace is impressive but anything slower than 8:00 seems like a waste of time. To each his own but I'd rather try a new sport than just slog around at such a slow pace.

If you're not running under 5 minute pace, you're not racing, TBH, you're a hobby jogger at best
Hey! Nothing wrong with that 😉 I wish I can run an 8:00 pace for a marathon like I used to back in the day 😂

Anyone participating in a race and running as hard as they can is racing.

Yep...those gifted elite runners will never understand this.
Let's be honest here, you're not "racing" at 15: seconds per hundred pace. High school girls run faster than that.
Racing is either/and;
1. Attempting to cover the distance as fast as possible given your fitness and ability.
2. Attempting to beat as many competitors as possible.
Pace is irrelevant. Especially for #2 where pacing can be significantly sub optimal.
If you're running all out, you're racing. But I do see a lot of middle of packers at races taking selfies, throwing down hi-fives, and making that stupid airplane poses. These people are just taking up space at the race but I am sure race organizers love them since they're paying.
Please don't call me Frank
Yeah really - anyone who runs at race effort is racing regardless of pace.
Go tell someone racing a vertical mile that their 18 min/mile pace isn't racing.
Go tell someone fresh off a yearlong injury that their 26 min 5k as their first race back isn't racing.
I've seen sub-16 5ks that clearly weren't racing and over-30 min 5ks that very clearly were.

I ran a little under 4:30 actually.
just going to plop this here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFdIAndEpyUThis is some elitist trash. Idc if someone is running 4:00 pace or 10:00 pace. 8:00 pace is race pace for a lot of people from the mile to the marathon. I would say 8:00 across any of those distances is pretty solid compared to the rest of the population. A 3:30 marathon is quite good and might lead someone to stick with the sport, get into more regular interval training, and go after a BQ if that's above their time.
I'm not that fast dude. I'm just an average dude who started off in the low 6s for a mile. I love Sean Brosnan and Newbury Park. That team ROCKS!

This is what we call a jog. Unless you are very old or handicapped, don't bother racing at this pace. Instead, do 200 and 400 repeats until your race pace is in the lower 7s. You need to learn to SPRINT first, because 8:00 pace is jogging.
I have never in my life met a group of people more obsessed with people who aren't as good as them.
Do you know how much time chess players spend discussing beginning players and if they are really "playing" the game if they have a rating under 1800? None at all.
Do professional soccer players get all butt hurt about pickup games? Do pro golfers spend even half a second thinking about those who can't break 100?
It's unreal.
I think he is compensating for something...
