1 100% agree with him. He doesn't want to determine the winner by who clears the bar the most but just wants us to have access to that info kind of like how we know by how much did someone miss the takeoff board in the LJ by. He says you could use the number to break ties.
I have several ideas to present the sport better with technology.
1) Take a 200m split in the midst of the 400/400h races. It blows my mind we never get to know what pace people are on or who is ahead at 200. Having all 8 splits pop up woudl be cool but if that's too hard, at least tell us Warholm or McLaughlin's 200 split (and let us know what there's was during their WRs as well)
2) Make it a rule that you turn off the wavelight during the final lap of a WR attempt to create more drama (at a minimum if you are going to have it, can we at least see a tv angle that shows the light. The light today drove me nuts as it was on during Hassan's race but they never showed it as they kept showing closeups of her face).
I'm not certain I'm for #2 quite yet. I'd like to see more attempts with it on before I decide. It might add drama if it's really close and they are battling the light for the win.
3) Have a computer program automatically adjust sprint times for wind/altitude.
So the time flashes up on the board as say 9.59 but then you also get a number next to it in ( ) that shows what's it's equal to with a zero wind and zero altitude.
What are your ideas?
