2001 was not ten years ago but it sure feels like it

Jenny is one of very few 15 year olds to have won 1500m gold. And to think it is often the Africans who are accused of being age cheats.
Two from that race won silver medals in Tokyo
Didn't realize it was so soon before 9/11
Rojo, needs to freaking retire.
It's that 20 years.

That shock on her face was " wow, Dr. Brown was right"
Just want to point out that rojo is a graduate of Princeton University--not Cornell, where he coached for a while.
Terrible commentating on the home straight: they did not notice Simpson at all. "Miracle for Great Britain", they say as Simpson gets the win.
I've always wondered what would have happened had Uceny not fallen and ended up winning. Would Simpson have medaled? Would her career have gone the same way?

He says "it's American victory from Great Britain, then Rodriguez of Spain".
British commentators often use the word "from" to mean something like "ahead of" or "leading"
First spelling errors and now being off by a decade...man can I have whatever y'all are smoking? I'm an herbal aficionado and would love a sampling
I have never watched this race before. Thanks for posting Rojo, big fan of Jenny

Uceny was a favorite. She was the top 1500m runner in the world in 2011 up until she got tripped at Worlds. At the OGs she was in great shape and won the US champs over Simpson. The fall at the OGs seemed to break Uceny and she was never the same. But for two falls, Uceny could have medaled if not won both WC and OG.
I think Simpson was still on a clear trajectory. Watching that race, you realize that Simpson's career has really been built upon the fact that she is a brilliant tactician. She is so incredibly patient during that race and new exactly where she needed to be on the last 100 to be able to out kick everyone. Her shock at the end of the race was 50% surprise that she won and 50% surprise that the other runners blew themselves up so badly in a tactical race.
Wow, she raced nobody. Thought I was watching a race from the 1980s.
Wow. So hard to process. Not one but two falls. Hurts.
And great point, would Jenny have gone on to have as much success had uceny not gone down….

Now the title is changed, my joke feels moot.
She's always been a running warrior and deserving of
praise!
