I didnt watch that far. Does the black community treat lightskin girls differently or something?
I know for guys theres this running joke that lightskins are fruity, and I just dont understand the hate for lightskins.

I tried watching, but I honestly can't handle the religious inclination. There's an explanation for your level of fitness, results, and everything else related to your profession, and coming up short two years ago is not "god's plan for you to become more mature".
Two years ago she wasn't good enough, then she worked hard and intelligently and became the best. She did it herself.
Nothing she has or you have is withou God deal with it why do you care if it is religious or not

look up the paper bag test

"Trying to break this mold of which athletes get promoted drives me the most, so they'll show the black, dark skinned face at the top, and to help further break these molds of it being easier for lighter athletes or even white athletes"
Oh so this is just about some bs boogeymen made up by race hustlers.
It continues to be true that the demand for racism exceeds the supply. How sick in the head do you have to be to tell people to believe in this brown paper bag crap....
1. She is clearly talking mostly about people who are close to her, she even mentions relatives. If that is the case, why not just talk to them directly instead of posting on Instagram?
2. She actually recorded the video 8 weeks ago and just posts it now? Why wait so long if it bothers her so much?
3. She complains about social media haters by posting a video on social media? Just stay away from your accounts for a few months if it causes you so much hurt and stress.
4. She gives all credit to God and Jesus. Doesn't it seem like if you give all of the credit for your success to some mythical outside influence - rather than to your genetic gifts, hard work, coaching, etc - that you will have LESS self esteem and drive to continue to improve and move forward?
5. If you can't handle the stress of the job you are doing, get a new job.
The video was made after the Olympic Trials so the Gold Medal hanging on her wall is tactile confirmation of her hard work and the blessings bestowed upon her. Haters are going to hate no matter how good, clean and honest an athlete you are. The more success your have the more critics that will show up the try and tear you down. And the other side of success in athletics is the financial windfall. Many professional track and field athletes never get the attention and financial perks from their success. Often it can be a function of race or physical attractiveness, which as she pointed out is superficial and a sickness.
As a fan of hers and a fellow empathizing human being, I hope she sticks to her guns and keeps fighting the good fight. What she is doing matters because the sport needs representatives like her.

YOU are bringing it up because you are Mexican or claim to be. Stop with the non-sense, do you even run?
Umm... Did you even watch the video? She specifically mentioned being judged because she is light skinned, and she thinks that's ridiculous. I think it's ridiculous as well.
Whether or not you agree with her religion, at least she is someone who acts and lives consistently with her faith.I couldn't help compare this to SCR, who goes on about God and Jesus in between cussing and being a complete attention seeking sponge.
Sydney McLaughlin is articulate, and clearly very principled. To me that is a very valuable asset and will set her up well for life. Methinks she and Mu share that in common.
I do agree that it is a bit weird to post something like this on social media, but I guess to a certain extent that's just the way things work these days. That is the outlet for this sort of stuff. I think it's clear from her post that she isn't bound only to running and fame, and I also agree with the poster who suggested that she won't stick around for long. Too bad, but hopefully the qualities that she shows as a person will continue to serve her well through throughout her life, running running in a circle aside.

Starting with wejo or bojo or whatever the owner of this site is called. He has given black pages to every WR. Heck he even gave one to Warholm - a non American. I can only assume that he didn't give one to Sydney because she must be a black woman. What other reason could it be?
Sydney got a post-Olympic portion of a splash page.
https://www.letsrun.com/splash-pages/arigatoand one at the Trials:
https://www.letsrun.com/splash-pages/super-sunday-at-olympic-trialsSydney didn't get one in real time because he WR came on the heels of Warholm's. If she had been first she would have gotten one I bet but Warholm's had probably been up maybe only 12 hours when she broke record. After that run I expected Sydney to get record. And maybe those high expectations are what Syndey is struggling with.
Athing Mu and Warholm were only live splash pages at Olympics. Too much going on to constantly be giving them out.

How can you not love and respect this woman? After watching her post, I refuse to read any other comments because I can only imagine the spectrum of responses on this board. She had my respect before. Now.....whew..
She earned my respect when she said pressure is an illusion. That's all I needed to hear from her.
That was a tough watch. I hope she continues to find peace. Big fan of hers, as are most track and field fans, I think. Hopefully she will find positive people to surround herself with as she continues to grow.

Stunningly beautiful woman. Sorry - that's about as far as I got. Or needed to.
Sydney is an amazingly talented athlete, a beautiful young woman, and seems to be very smart and well grounded. I have tremendous respect for her.

She’s not wrong. Lighter skinned people in general usually do get marketed more often. However, I don’t think she was directly referring to Sydney—just the media. And based on interviews, Dalilah has always said great things about her ...

According to your ideology, she has a WR after 1950 so she is on drugs...right?
