So she ran about 30 seconds slower than last year in basically her own version of sub2 (husband on bike + rabbit). Looks like 2:21-2:23 at Chicago depending on conditions then.

Were you yawning in london last year?

Were you in Atlanta? 38 and never an Olympian.
OK, so let me get this straight, in summary of many of the post thus far, if you want to get credit for your effort, and no criticism, make sure of the following...
it is in no way shape or form a solo effort
it has some type of pressure or "heat"
it's an event that is known by all
has some hype to it
make sure you have "competition" around you
there better not be a pacer
let not there be some guy on a bike calling out all your splits
do not choose the course
there should be no elements of a "time trial"
don't try to create optimal conditions
I got a 1600 on a practice SAT test this morning. I took it by myself, with a standard #2 pencil, with no cheating or anything.
Should I send letters to all of the schools that rejected me last spring to let them know that I'm now a 1600 guy?
Only 7 runners in a half-marathon?
If you weren't a runner and were just walking and saw a random woman and a bunch of bikers next to you'd think it's just another group of people out on a jog. It appears it was on a boat ramp or next to it.
If you were a runner and into the sport you'd probably recognize what's going on right away lol!
These are some of the dumbest replies I have ever seen on this board...which is saying a lot.
Holy moly, a bunch of slow guys on a message board criticizing Hall for...running fast? Get over yourselves.

send it to the wright brothers and ask them why you're such a d^mb@ss.
she's way smarter to work on a prototype within parameters that she controls on the way to the main event.
than to waste valuable training time in an event that's primary function is to appease letsun skeptics.

She’s a great runner, but a tempo run when no one is around is not a PR. People in the throws routinely perform well in practice. It’s about how you perform when the heat is on. Her time should not count.
Holy Sweet and Sour Jesus, if this poster isn't being ironic, it's the dumbest post on Let's Run in the last hour, and that's saying a lot.
Since when, in the annals of running, does time not count?
Hashtag Buffoon.
Mr. Dick-Man
You are correct with regard to "does time not count?" Yes, she ran a great "time trial". Nothing more, nothing less. That being said, is the course certified? and was it for this run? Was the timing FAT and certified? Were there any officials besides Ryan on his bike timing her with his iPhone? Were other runners allowed to compete with her? I truly don't know and am asking. No matter, unless all the above boxes are checked you can't count this as a "Race" or official "PR" certified effort. Just a great time trial. She's definitely fit and ready for Chicago.
Good Luck Sara!
Was it a legit measured and timed run? Or was it like something Kilian does with an hourglass and a piece of stretchy tape?
I like to call these "boutique" events which started because of covid and the difficulty in securing venues/roads. These type of events have been accepted & approved by the sports governing bodies around the world and were essential for providing competitions for athletes to qualify for the Olympics, rankings, records, as well as meeting sponsor's contractual requirements.
I have been involved with several of these types of events and they met the technical requirements for the performances to be accepted for qualifying, rankings, or records. It really does not make a difference if there are a handful of competitors or ten's of thousands.
This "half marathon" was just a 21km time trial, aptly named ASCIS something half marathon. Probably in an attempt to kiss up to her sponsor, whom she bailed on at the last minute last week at Falmouth, where ASICS was the first time sponsor of the race.
But to call this a real "half marathon" is a joke. Doing it in Eugene on Pre weekend to try to get some fan base, also a fail.
It's like me measuring and even certifying a course for the distance of 8.4872km, or any other simply odd distance, and running it then referring to myself as "holding the world record for the 8.4872km distance."

Ah, but did she deadlift 500lbs?
If there's any chance her husband coached her lifts as well and her form ended up anything like his horror show, I hope she doesn't go anywhere near a barbell.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
