Yawn.
It would be pretty cool if Ryan and Sara both held the AR at the same time.

She’s a great runner, but a tempo run when no one is around is not a PR. People in the throws routinely perform well in practice. It’s about how you perform when the heat is on. Her time should not count.
Ah, but did she deadlift 500lbs?
Let me guess is this the same bike path that Des ran her face 50k male paced record that will never be certified.
she ran a great workout but that does not count as a half marathon time as a race would. It was a glorified practice on a course chosen by her specifically.

Holy Sweet and Sour Jesus, if this poster isn't being ironic, it's the dumbest post on Let's Run in the last hour, and that's saying a lot.
Since when, in the annals of running, does time not count?
Hashtag Buffoon.

typically real race times are not on courses chosen by one participant, at the time of their choosing. She ran the time for 13.1 miles but I don't consider it to count for the same accomplishment that participating in a real half marathon is. This was a time trial.
And for that matter her previous sub 69 should not count for an official time at all considering she ran it in prototype shoes that were not approved or available for anyone else to wear but her.

Your meandering, meaningless opinion has been entered into the record. Thank you for commenting.
In other news: Great run, Sara Hall!

Sara's race performances speak for themselves without your validation. She ran this as a time trial to compare herself to last year, and for that purpose it's awesome. But it shouldn't be compared to all-time results run in race conditions.

You do understand that it's significantly harder to run this time solo than tapered in a race. You get that right? This is a bigger accomplishment than doing it a race.

I don't know if I agree with that, but Sara races A LOT. It's silly to criticize her for running well in a time trial. She has lots of race performances to back up her credentials, and if she felt a time trial was the right thing to do leading up to her fall races, more power to her. Running that fast in practice is obviously a good sign that she's reading to run some fast races this fall.
Solo tempos do not officially count. Most people understand they're nearly as impressive.
Wholeheartedly agree with this. Getting dragged along to a PB in a fast race (with pacers to draft of - like Centro finishing 10th with his 1500m PB in 3:30.40) is easier as there's a lot of external stimuli to assist.

I’ve always been curious about throwers in practice and wasn’t sure. Do you have any specifics? I would think crouser crushed the WR many times in practice before actually doing it in a meet. Be curious to know his practice PR

no, I don't understand that to be a fact or even likely. Watch the video of her doing this. She's running next to a dude pacing her, Ryan is right behind her on the bike saying every split, and she picked the time and place. Maybe she'd run faster in a race, but I think it's just as likely that the scenario she created was optimal for her best performance.
