I’m a rising senior in Highschool, and I’ve been having a widespread debate with my teammates about my current mileage. Recently I have built myself up to be on pace to hit 70 this week, and everyone keeps telling me that “I’m going to get injured” or that I’m stupid for doing so much mileage. I’m doing 1 double a week and 2 workouts with the rest of the days as easy mileage (actual easy mileage, not hammering random runs to look cool). Last summer my mileage peaked at around 60-63 mpw. I have never been out for injury for more than 3 days (it is extremely rare for me to get injured, most I get is shin splints that go away and don’t bother me while I run). Am I stupid for running such high mileage? I have big goals this season and I feel very fit right now, I feel like I can only get fitter. Should I go up to 70 or cap around 65? (My training is 2 weeks up 1 week down, with an off day during my down week)
