One thread should suffice
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=10778102#10788331I kind of like the idea of separate threads for men's and women's. If you're interested in one or the other you don't have to scroll through a few pages where it's just not on point. Besides I don't think college basketball discussion would be one thread for men and women or pro basketball would be one thread for men and women.
[ I heard Marlee starliper joined a Kiss cover band and is going to take the year off. But it could just be a rumor

Starliper took off last year for her KISS tour! Lol. But she is healthy and ready to go this season. If anyone saw her Wednesday workout two years ago on the 400m hill at Messiah University…… she was working out on it once a week this summer at home until her team went to Flagstaff for two weeks! She was home for about 5 weeks, went to Flag for 2, and now is back at school working out with the team again. I would expect her to be back to herself by November when it counts. I’m sure we will see her at NC State’s home invite in September, and see what kind of shape she is in.
How about the rest of NC State's team? What about y BYU? Is Courtney wayment back?

NC State’s whole team is back from last year! Not sure about Wayment from BYU…… but that is an important question?

Wayment did not have eligibility for XC last year, and does not have it this year!
https://byucougars.com/roster/w-cross-country/2020-2021Some schedules are out
https://byucougars.com/schedule/w-cross-countryhttps://gopack.com/sports/cross-country/schedulehttps://arkansasrazorbacks.com/sport/w-xc/schedule/Stanford if they return their 5 with a healthy Lawson and Dudek will be good. Arkansas should be watched however their roster is not yet out. Alabama will have a strong 1-2-3 again, question remain on 4-5.
2 meets in October - Joe Piane (10/1) and Nuttycombe (10/15) will give a good indication of where most of the top teams sit.
Wayment? Not sure if that's the right name there was a girl who came back from injury for BYU and was the hero of the team the reason they won the championship. She was leading for much of the race and then dropped back to about 20
Anyway there was some talk that she might turn pro but pretty sure she still has another year of eligibility. I think she actually change your name because of marriage
Courtney orton... if she's back for BYU it should be a real battle between them and NC State. Anyone know if she turned Pro?
I missed it. How many NC State alum ran for the U. S. in Tokyo ? They seem to get great recruits every year, but few make it to our WC or Olympic trial finals. KISS? Really ??

Yes, KISS!

You don't diss the star recruit like that by forgetting to put her on the roster!!!!

I believe she matriculates next year
Looks like BYU, Stanford, NC State and Minnesota return most or all of their top group from last year. Michigan St. losing a couple top runners. Arkansas and New Mexico returners unclear. Assume Michigan will be back in the mix after a down performance at nationals.
Looks like the race for podium spots will be even more competitive among top teams with top returners d/t covid eligibility.

They're across country and distance running school so kind of tough when you don't have that many distance Runners for the us at the Olympics.
And it's really only recently that they become a Powerhouse they were just a good school for many years but I bet a lot of the top teams didn't have any distance runners representing their school at the Olympics. I guess my point is it's not really that meaningful of a criteria. They were runners-up last year and they have a good chance to do that again or even better so I think that's a better measure
This post won’t age well, but as of now not all the rosters are updated. So the links for now are to last year’s rosters.
I would expect the Covid nonsense to effectively create the strongest XC year ever as the extra year of eligibility increases the talent pool for each school by a year. Most of the top runners who would have graduated will be back while others improve and top freshmen show up.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
