Why again does she get all the attention when Frerichs is the actual American record holder?
Because prior to today she had won medals at championships.
Good career and pushed the SC. Well done Emma.

first thing i thought tbh.
Wait, what??
apparently she was seen hanging out with sam in tokyo before he tested positive for covid. even the mildest form of covid could ruin a race, but im sure she will be tested enough the next few days for us to find that out (if they even announce it at this point since it doesnt matter for competition).
This. If it weren't so pathetic for a bunch of armchair experts/"I WoN mY LoCaL 5K" trolls to be dragging people down to feel better about themselves--anonymously, no less--I'd be laughing. I came here looking for the interview and should have known the dumpster fire I'd find.
Everyone has a bad day from time to time. Happens to all of us in everything we put effort into, whether it's work or running or something else, and it doesn't matter if you're a pro or not. It happens. Sometimes there is no reason. If you're committing your entire day to trolling and looking at old interviews or speculating, you really need to find a life.
Emma is a class act and a fierce competitor. She had a bad day. It happens. Too bad it was, as she said, on the biggest stage. She'll be back. And a big congratulations to Courtney. She went for it with courage and heart. I was off the couch rooting for her to hold on. 2nd in the Olympics. Well done! :-)
Interesting if it is Covid. Don't know her vaccination status (not my business, tbh), but I think Frerichs posted that she got the vaccine on social media.
I think Emma just had a bad day at the office. We're just surprised bc she's usually so consistent.
P.S.
If there was a recent message-board post that warranted a title change, this might be it.
'Emma jogs it in' is a bit of a slap in the face to one of America's leading athletes in our sport.
Why is there no black screen for Sydney? No one had to tell the owners of this site to put up one for Warholm. The moment he won, a black screen was up 5 minutes after.
People had to ask, nay demand a black screen for MU.
The constant bigotry of the owners of this site is amazing. What is it with the racist crap that's going on here?
Was her last race before the Olympics the one where she fell at the jump? I remember her being very upset about that and I wondered (but dared not post on here for fear of verbal abuse) if it might have shaken her confidence? I'd never seen her react like that before that fall.
Sometimes, when you have such consistent, great success a catastrophic setback can be shall I say..."devastating"?

Coburn was involved in some messaging to fellow athletes via the athletes association about getting vaccinated ahead of the Trials and Olympics.
Emma is vaccinated, she publicly posted about getting it back in the spring with several team boss members

I am disappointed in her.
Giving your maximum effort, should be a requirement for representing your country in the Olympics
Knowing, how to punctuate, should be a minimum requirement, for posting, on these boards.

Because this is a Scandinavian-focused website, not American. Warholm and Ingebritsen are the greatest pride of Letsrunners, not anyone else.

What a joke
Why is this super hot a top post on LetsRun? That's why every pro runner hates LetsRun. They go on the site, and see their name, followed by a toxic comment (i.e. 'what a joke') and then they are like, yeah this place sucks, and go scroll through instagram.
Dead serious. Emma Coburn put years of training in, made the olympics and has outstanding past performances, and here we are on this toxic site having to read this trash poist.
Do better Rojo and Wejo.
Make this site better, make it better than just censoring curse words, make it untoxic instead of having this click-bait garbage that triggers people and adds nothing constructive. Jesus christ bro.
Guys!!
Emma’s mother has stage IV cancer.
Be kind please.

You could leave out the middle line, that will work.

Chelimo is hilarious. Just watch this video where Coburn accuses Chepkoech of doping. She clearly has a huge ego, and can't stand anyone else being better than her. She also seems annoyed that Frerichs now has the AR.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9L9aGfXpRUWhat do you want her to say about losing the AR? Her answer was perfectly fine and classy.
Good for her accusing a likely doper of being a doper.
LOL you people will eat anything up if it's said by an average looking blonde.

I wondered about the impact of this trip (and this race in particular) to her preparation for Tokyo, too. In hindsight, it might have negatively impacted her.
She had a rough day and that happens.
One thing that concerns me as a coach is when I see an unusual build up to competition. Some do well with that but most can’t handle that.
I saw Coburn in a lot of commercials leading into and during the games.
Having coached hundreds of athletes and some that are high profile I have learned to keep a low profile.
The race can turn into a mountain with too much hype. especially for a distance runner that is not used to getting the kind of attention she was getting going into these Olympics.
I’m not saying this is what happened for sure but over the past few days it went through my mind several times whether she would be able to handle that when we I saw her in commercials, on a promotion for America has Talent, interviews, etc…. It was too much.
You want to keep things
Shame on your for such a heartless comment. She is a heroine, a role-model, and a wonderful person. The only thing you can predict in sport is that it is unpredictable. She put her heart into these last five years of preparation. For whatever reason, it didn't work out. Let's raise people up, especially women, who follow their passion – and let's feel sorry for people who have nothing better to do than to put someone down. Look at yourself in the mirror. Is this who you want to be?
