I know the typical answer is that the training was subpar in that the concept of "junk miles" and "sweet spot" training was basically taken too literally and "scientifically" and it was thought that anything over 65 miles a week was a waste. But beyond that I don't think I actually know what the training looked like. I supposed Daniels Running Formula provides a tiny peek (hitting the "systems" and everything else is useless) but I'm sure Daniels and his contributions deserve more respect than that.
Could anyone who coached or ran competitively in the 90's tell me what a typical training cycle would look like? What did the specific workouts look like? Long runs? Paces? Did you feel like it was working?
