Ok, l know people on here going to lie. But for real how much money can you get out of the bank and do you keep money in the house for emergency purposes? Like if you get your wallet stolen over the weekend or at night? And how old are you?

Keep 50k in a high yield savings. 10-15k in checking usually. No cash in the house.
That’s about 3-4 months expenses.
Mid 30s.
Rarely more than $3,000 in the bank.
Age 67 - right now about:
$41K in a joint money market
$8k in joint checking
$6k in personal checking
$4k in personal savings
$5k in business checking
$6k in cash in coinbase acct
$2k in cash in a drawer (mostly 100s)
Also have cash in a few brokerage accounts but that takes a few days to clear and probably a few other things I'm forgetting.
I have no clue how much my wife has in her personal accounts or in cash.
But I can get cash out of my primary checking and savings accounts with my phone if my wallet is stolen. There are also daily limits on withdrawals from most deposit accounts. I reckon I could pull together about $5k in cash within about an hour if banks were closed even if I didn't have my wallet.
$10K , some passports and a glock . Keep it in a sandwich bag in the toilet.
How much in the bank? Well everything of course.
Emergency cash in the house? 🤔 I got a milk jug full of quarters.
$0 in home other than change
$10k in savings for 6 months of mortgage
$1000 in a checking account
$300k in a brokerage account
Late 30s
According to survey done by Bankrate, 2/3 of Americans can't come up with $,1000 in an emergency. Most Americans would face financial ruin if out of work for a very short period of time.
Checking: $500k
Savings: $250k
Brokerage (would need to sell mutual fund holdings): $600k
No cash in the house
40 years old (in CRE, used to be in biglaw)
$100k in savings account
$100k in checking (adding $20k monthly - saving for house down payment)
$1k in cash at house (quickly dwindling since my wife likes to steal from to give to babysitters)
$25k in silver coins at house
Other brokerage accounts and RE holdings that aren't terribly liquid
$40k online “high” yield savings. Dropped from 1.7% APY to 0.5% post covid.
$65k checking getting close to zero. Guess I could reduce this.
$5k in the house in crispy benjamins.
Several million in vanguard brokerage.
39 yo.
Actual cash: usually 50-100 in my wallet, zero in the house.
Keep about 15k in checking for bills and spending.
Normally keep 50k in money market emergency fund, but have more like 150k in there now because I’m doing some home renovations and not sure how much cash I’ll need.
The rest is in various investment accounts.
usually around $20K in the bank.
usually about $40 - $300 in my wallet
No money in the house.
money in cash brokerage accounts is ample and sufficient to cover emergencies.

Several million in your brokerage? So your 401K must have a couple hundred thousand no? No home equity? Are you an up and coming career CEO?
$83k in checking, another $89 in reserves that I stuck in a concentrated global equity fund that I’ll probably move back to cash sometime soon.
Not many readers of post-apocalypse fiction here, I see.
If the power grid or the internet goes down, banks and ATMs will shut down until the power is back on. So will stores and gas stations.
If you see a deal on something you want to buy... a car, bike, or whatever... cash is good to have around, especially Saturday, Sunday, and every day after 5pm.
I keep $10k or so in cash.
I have about $90k in the bank account. I seriously need to figure out how to invest that. Any suggestions? Otherwise I'm just going to put like 80% into an IRA account I guess. Or maybe just bet market in a fidelity account.
I have about $1k in cash in the house. Its not really from emergencies, I just forgot to deposit it.

Not up and coming; been CEO since age 28. Successful small business owner. Big hours, lots of stress, no buck passing. No vacations for first ten years. Runner’s discipline very helpful. Never had a “job” after undergrad. No 401k.
$390k in Trad/Roth/SIMPLE IRAs. Too much income for Roth long ago.
No mortgage—Bought home with cash, a necessity in our ultra competitive area where you are pitted against Chinese nationals buying sight unseen, over asking, no contingencies. Current “zestimate” $2.6M.
If it makes you feel any better, I never broke 15 for 5k, and am very thankful for my good fortune.
I try to keep about 30k in a high yeild savings account. It takes 24 hours to transfer to a bank I can get cash out. I put most stuff on credit card and then just transfer to pay the card. Anyone have recommendations? Most of them arent hardly paying much these days
I try to keep about 3k-5k in the house. Mostly used for buying stuff on craigslist but I like having access to a little bit of cash for a short notice emergency, if one ever came up
Anything more than that gets put in to a brokerage account buying s&p 500 index
