Nothing he does until the Olympic final is going to matter because he couldn't match Hocker in the last 100. Centro doesn't know how he can possibly replicate his 2016 performance. He's going to be under a heap of pressure with no game plan, while knowing there is at least one guy with a bigger kick.
It seems you’re assuming centro was in top form at the trials.
I’m not sure he was. He did enough to qualify and get ready to be in top form for the Olympics which is more important. He barely got caught at the line by Hocker, so he knows what he needs to work on and that he probably can’t leave it to the last 200m. It was research.
And going for the AR in the mile would indicate he’s now fit.
We’ll see, but I doubt Hocker does better than centro at the games. If he does, it’s awesome. We want Americans to run well and it was a win-win.
