We'll see in 2 minutes. M 100 up now. Weather looks good. Warm, little wind. Does Bromell get back to his sub 10 winning ways? Gemili needs to show something better than 10.1 here with Tokyo so near.

Who saw this? It is a horrendous effort from Wightman...
Gemili 8th. Bromell wins by a ton.

Considering its only high 60s I believe, and Elaine Thompson-Herah ran a very modest time, this feels like a very good run for Bromell. In line with 9.8x in hot conditions. Nice bounceback. Bit discouraged by Kerley's effort. He's looking pretty trick-or-treat.
Wightman quote on his horrific race:
"From my point of view that race was shocking. My body just didn't feel very good and with a lap to go I thought I'd be in trouble.
It's not the outcome I wanted at all and I should've won that and run quick but it's just a big block of altitude that just hit me.
Jake and Elliot ran well and they keep me on my toes."

Good thing he's a white guy.

It’s Gateshead.
Very nice, even race from Bromell. Nobody had fire, like they had in the heat of Monaco, Szekesfehervar, or Eugene. It’s hardly possible. Guys just went evenly here, a training prelude to a flight to Tokyo.
Sub-10 here is excellent IMO.
Harris looks back to his old self, well paced race
Not great 800m Brit representation at their own meet.
Harris just holds on over Kinyamal, takes Murphy and Hoppel easily.
Wow great job by Harris to hold on. Hoppel and Murphy are in trouble. 5 combined bad races for both of them. Hard to believe Murphy ran 1:43.xx a few weeks ago.
Sowinski should have stayed in it.

He definitely should not have
What are the chances zero Americans make the men’s 800m final? And when was the last time that happened?
Clayton has not been looking good at all. He peaked for the trials. Same can probably be said for Hoppel considering recent performances. Looks like our only hope is Isaiah Jewett.
Hoppel and Murphy 5th and 6th in 1:45.4/1:45.7.
Beaten by good but second-tier global names: Harris, Bol, Kinyamal, De Arriba.
Terrible. Hoppel got out fast and had nothing at the finish. Murphy "was nowhere to be seen" according to the commentator.
The wrong people are on the team.
These US guys won't even get out of prelims, let alone semis at the Olympics if they run like this.
USAFT should take top two at trials and make the third spot discretionary.
Tapers are not magic. Tokyo 800 looking like they could be USA-less for the Final.

Really tough day for Wightman and also Murphy, otherwise two medal prospects for Tokyo. Can't take this too seriously for Wightman considering how good he was at the trials. Same kinda goes for Murphy, but he's done a couple of mediocre/bad races now. Have to imagine that both peaked for trials and now will have to refind form during a month before Tokyo.
I wonder what Murphy and hoppel are thinking. These performances are awful. I really hope they do better with the rounds at the olympics. It could be possible there’s no American in the 800m final.
