The 3000 m will be a monster race with Katir and McSweyn among the favorites. Katir -7:28-7:31 prediction.
Katir didn't look smooth or strong at all at the end of Monaco 1500 last week. He was flailing around and it looked like that was all he had and couldn't go a step further. I don't think he will be able to translate it to 3,000 meters.

Thank you for your possible perceptive remark but I beg to differ. The Man from Southeastern Spain appears to be on a different planet right now. If you go to check him out on Instagram you will be amazed to witness that he has an eight pack not a six pack such is the strength in his abdominal area. He’s built almost like an MMA fighter. Monster..
Katir, the Muslim poet and free thinker from Mula, South Eastern Spain, Murcia region.

Not sure what happened to Sifan Hassan, she was listed in the mile previously but not anymore. What a shame, would have liked to see her as the defacto pacer and it would have pulled Grace to something pretty fast. I still think Grace will PR and go sub 4:20 based on her 1:47 speed and the leftover strength she got from all the mileage she was forced to do with the burrito babes. I'm going 4:18.87 for Kate Grace.
Too many races close to the Tokyo objective so those girls and guys are foregoing this meet in favor of getting ready with all the very complex protocols to travel to Japan in the next few days.

I can get behind that.
Maybe 1. Kate Grace 4:18.87 2. Winnie Nanyondo 4:19.20 3. Katie Snowden 4:20.75.
Men’s 3k seems most likely to come down to McSweyn trying to run away from Katir in the last 400m. I’ll say this time he does it, winning 7:29.2 to 7:29.9 with Krop 3rd in 7:32.
Katir in current 12:50/3:28 shape might be ready for something pretty special.
Preparation for the 5k in Tokyo should have his strength on a very high level. put that together with his 1500 speed, and he should be able to stay with mcsweyn without issue.

1:47? For what distance? 600 meters?
Also, Gateshead is not London.

But this is the London DL meet, which has re-located to Gateshead for the year.
Not surprising Sifan Hassan dropped out. She thought everything was tulips until a few days ago. Any race and any strategy. Then she ran into a cruel dose of reality. Now she has to decide not only what her program will be in Tokyo but also if she needs to work on finishing speed.
Femke Bol is always impressive. Nobody is more dedicated or gets more out of her ability level. McLaughlin and Benjamin only wish they could reach every hurdle perfectly in stride as Femke does. This time Shamier Little is one lane inside of Bol. That makes the race more interesting because Little knows she can't cede ground like last time.
I'm glad Katarina Johnson-Thompson is competing. We'll get a look at her fitness level. For all the talk about head to had matchups Thiam vs. Johnson-Thompson would be as good as anything if only they could ever both arrive at a championships fully healthy at the same time.
Thanks Ghost1 for the infos.

You are right and my bad for the error with regard to the location because that is a significant error in the sense that Gateshead is often a very tough place to run because of the wind and northeast England is generally a windy place so that can potentially be a major disadvantage. Katir showed however, that he can run in very adverse conditions as shown when he ran that magnificent 5000 m in 1308 in absolutely horrible windy and wet conditions in Gateshead many weeks ago, so it will be Geordie land re-visited for the freethinking Muslim poet tonight, Katir. I think he’s one step ahead of the Australian, McSweyn, at this time but it should be a great race.
It doesn't appear in upcoming NBC Sports. Is anyone actually seeing it as upcoming?
It's showing on the Peacock app but not on the NBCSports app for what that's worth.
I see it listed on nbcsports on TV but not to stream. That is unusual.
Maybe somebody will put it on YouTube in another language.

If Kate Grace does run a quick time - it shows how terrible BTC training was for her given that she’s now back to specialising in the 800m
In the straight sprint, will we see four sub 10?
