Not only is there an active fire danger, but there is also an active fire around Woody Mountain. All of Flagstaff was a smokey haze when the wind blew in this direction just a few days ago. Air quality is still awful.
Agree with the sentiment, if you close all the forest roads and most of the urban trail system, Flag goes from world class to meh. There are still some dirt roads northeast of town that aren't in the forest, but they aren't particularly exciting. I've been here for 6 weeks so likely there are things I don't know, but at least 80% of my mileage has been on FUTS or forest roads/lands.
Runners get the short end of the stick as usual. We can't just ban vehicles and camping? To think that a few weeks ago I was thinking of buying a shack here and trying to extend my stay... man, I dodged a bullet.
