He knew how to get clout better than anyone at his time.
We read his poems in our English class and I thought they were good at the time, he is clearly bright. I am hard to please in English class. I never listen to his music though. Shamrocks.

I agree it was more his poetry/lyrics that were impressive, rather than his actual rapping. Bright man indeed, tragically gone too soon.
Agree with the above.
Tupac wasn’t in any way ‘gangster’ himself
He was interested in social reform and empowerment for young black people.
And he decided to invent ‘thug life’ as a way of trying to reach his target audience with that sort of message.
It wasn’t all that well received in his early attempts as the very people he was trying to reach were well aware that he was ‘acting’.
It seems he got there in the end though.
Look past the hype and the image.
He was a story teller. The musicians and especially rappers are story tellers.

Doesn't mean what you think it means.
The hate you give little infants f***s everyone.
Think about it.
Not very good at what, being a son a boyfriend a rapper a normal person? My research shows that he was good enough to get paid obscene amounts of money for his music.
Also good enough that many of the rappers who have followed him name Tupac as not only an influence but one of the best ever.
Good enough that people born after his death know who he was.
Wasn’t his biggest fan but he was good better than most

I agree. Never as anywhere near good as his peers (Cube, Snoop, Dre, etc.). He couldn't make a lyrical hook they way they did. He was too bitter for most of his short career, then Suge Knight turned him into more of rapping porno mag for his last album, which was an even worse look.
Aside from his music being absolute trash, he was a violent racist, rapist, and thug.
It’s a shame so many people hold him up as the gold standard of rap.
proof?

You fell for the sales pitch. His message was always to bring yourself up and along with that, bring up your brothers and sisters. He hated gang violence, but understood why people joined gangs. It's a response to oppression.
Here's OG 2Pac just getting into the game:

Good rapper.
Outstanding actor. Great screen presence.
And Mike Tyson called him the most fearless man he has ever known.
Pretty impressive in my book
There hasn't been a good rapper since Rapture.

Tupac ranks right up there with the legends Lil' PooPoo Pants and Failed Diaper.
His mama was a Black Panther and he went to visual and performing arts high school. He was into poetry and acting. Then, a run in with the cops, where they smashed his head into the sidewalk justifiably sent him back to his mama’s roots in activism.
He was a very smart, articulate and passionate man. He was also a rap genius. If you don’t understand how good he is, you need to dig deeper.

I understand exactly how good he was; terrible, no talent, over-hyped poser.
I guess that if Tupac is a rap genius, then Tori Spelling is an acting genius.

Disclaimer: I enjoy rap music, specifically 42 Dugg and Yo Gotti's collaborations. However, the glorifying of gang banging, thuggery, gun touting, drug dealing, etc is not cool. The fact that people get cancelled over saying certain things, much lesser things at that, and no one bats an eye when a rapper glorifies the aforementioned behavior is such a dispicable double standard. Cards B is the female Bill Cosby, date raping men, and she's idolized. Double standard.
