Graduated from college 1 month ago. ran d2 for 4 years. I have 5000 pr of 14:2x, 10,000 pr of 29:5x. I ran a Half marathon time trial during the winter this year and off of 5000/10,000 training at no more than 85 miles per week I ran 68:24. I have the dream of making the marathon trials in 2028. if I work my ass off the next 7 years is a 65 minute half or sub 2:18 marathon possible?
Seems very possible to me. Shouldn't be too complicated. My best advice would be to focus on the volume and especially focus on the long run. Run like the Kenyans; one mid-week interval workout at anywhere from 3k to lactate threshold pace, totally 8-12k, and one weekend long run workout alternating between short (25-30k with a good portion of it at marathon pace) and long (35-40k still at a respectable pace). Otherwise just run 100+ mpw and don't forget to recover properly with down weeks and rest days at regular intervals (I'd recommend every 4th week 15-20% less mileage and easier workouts, and once a week run only one short run like 4-6 miles).
