You need to shout at it to go away. Dogs become emboldened by fear.

The dog’s owner called it away, I only realised when I heard my sock being ripped. I nearly had to shout at some dogs when they ran right in front of me during the efforts in my fartlek.
On an easy run a couple weeks ago I got bit and it broke the skin. Luckily the dogs were up to date but it was quite the hassle anyways.
How bad was the bite wound and what caused it to be a hassle? I didn’t talk to the owner afterwards but I wasn’t hurt.
Welcome to running!
If anyone has any ideas how to prevent dog attacks chases etc, please let us know!
The worst for me was two vicious Dobermans pinned me on the side of a road for an hour one time snarling barking not letting me pass....fing sucked!! One on each side.

Don't live around poor people. Rural poors and ghetto types like to let their dogs run free. This doesn't really happen in decent neighborhoods.

It happened to me in a neighbourhood that is full of wealthy people.

I only learned one thing from the 1970s' book "Running" by Jim Fixx, but it was a good one: When a dog starts coming at you, pretend you are picking up a rock and the dog will usually stop in its tracks. This worked for me about 90 percent of the time. The other times I just had to run like hell.
I've resorted to being willing to kick the sh*t out of them. If the owner doesn't like it they can train the dog better. I'm half considering starting to run with my pocket knife for self-defense.
In my experience the less populated an area is the worse. I think there is less incentive to discipline your dog when there are less people around. I was in Vienna a few years back and there were off-leash dogs everywhere that didn't react to anything. The only time I saw a dog wig out and start barking up a storm was a golden lab owned by a couple of dumb tourists.
See? Situations like these are the reason why I'm a First Amendment carrier.

Get tetanus booster perhaps just to make sure
One trick I learned from a postal worker was have a hat ready to wave in front of an attacking dog...the hope that they bite the hat rather than you.
My neighborhood full of pit bulls and huskies so I’m fcked

That's why you didn't actually get bitten. The wealthy dog was polite enough to know the limits and not cross the line between playing and attacking. Do you think Jerome's pit bull or Cletus's doberman would have just nipped your sock?

Bite it back.
My Mom had to call animal control, then we had to do a police report.
Then I had to go to the clinic to make sure I wasn’t going to get rabies. It was just a pain in the a$$. After it bit me I kicked the hell out of it.

How does one carry the right to free speech and how will it protect me from dogs?
I've been bitten 3 times. My wife got bit 10 years ago, got a nice home owners insurance settlement from the dog owner. It was bad...many stiches in the arm (large dog),
You must not be running long. I've been chased/bit multiple times. If a dog looks hostile do not turn your back to it. That is when they attack.
in the case of idiocy you also have the 5th
