Saw MIT men on meet warmup today- had a new guy (6'1-6'3 east african skinny build). It seemed Mekbib was just a troll, is he actually a real person? Judging off the names at MIT's regional race, no way he was part of that top 7.

I didn't know this was high school XC. Who the heck has varsity and JV in college?
DIII is JV and DI is varsity.
Stop being so deliberately mean!
Unfortunately, MIT must have forgotten to enter him in nationals. Their nine entrants (from which they will choose seven) are the regionals team plus Sanjay Raman and Ryan Wilson, neither of whom is East African or a 2:10 marathoner.

Geneseo JV guy spotted, maybe if you keep hyping them up on this thread the Varsity guys will actually talk to you
Dude... this is DIII running, if there's a team where the "good runners" don't talk to the "bad runners" then that's just sad, and I know personally that Geneseo isn't one of those teams.

Shouldn't you have something more constructive to do than terrorize the posters on this thread?

It seems that MIT must be running Mekbib as an alternate to skirt around the NCAA transfer regulations. Seems pretty messed up if you ask me….. the Engineers are now the stand-alone favorite with Mekbib, the beast from the East, running
It's true. We spotted Mekbib time trialing at Conn College before our race with MIT (he was not NCAA cleared at the time due to a milk sponsorship I've heard). He ran the course in a 24: 05, faster than Aiden, who was significantly faster than the rest of the field
We’ve been looking under the wrong rock all season: Mekib is actually on the MIT women’s roster. Check it out yourself.

Did Tufts Dad officially retire?
Wartburg chokes, looks like even their extra eligibility couldn’t help them. Williams haters go home disappointed but not really devastated

IGC may have run a full mile in 4:02 but Jamie Norton ran a mile in 4:06 which is actually faster once you adjust for inflation. 4:06 in 2011-2012 is actually worth 4:00 today. Congratulations to Tufts Dad on his sons new PR. A full mile in 4:00 is very impressive.
Love the WPI hate, glad to see they lived up to exactly what we all knew they were capable of. What more people need to talk about is the Metro region champs, Haveford, earning the next worst place. This realignment is bogus, metro gets a free bid when there’s a dozen other teams who would’ve smoked them today that didn’t qualify. And if not for Geneseo, the Niagara region is the exact same story.
