The absolute balls on that lad
Impressive jakob 12:48

Gebrhiwet has got to be kicking himself over running the 10 over the 5. Perhaps the Ethiopian federation will take mercy on him as he should be in the team for 5,000 over Mengesha who ran a weak sauce 12:58.
Wild to see Cheptegei so mortal the last few months. Was he injured? I just don't get how you go from 12:35 to that.
Justyn Knight, good lawd.
He'll be giving Mo a run for his money next year.

True that!
Also my prediction on Gebrhiwet was pure luck, I had no idea on his current form I just based my judgment on that I knew he would want to be back for the Olympics and he (obviously) has a lot of talent..

So six under 13 like on Italian soil in 2019? I’ll say four.

As a matter of 7 went sub 13.
JWH was right about the 6 in the top apart from McSweyn who was substituted with Gebrhiwet.
And the frontrunners went sub 12:50 as I was hoping.

Interesting to see
- if Mo Ahmed can replicate his sensational 12:47 from last summer
- if Mo Katir can follow up on his impressive 13:08 under poor conditions in Gateshead
-if the Etiophians are in Olympic shape
- if Cheptegei has improved since his mediocre 5km road run in Monaco and 3000m recently
- if Crippa can break 13. He has improved steadily the last years
- if Henrik can get the Olympic standard
- if Jakob can break the European record at high 12:49. His 1500m and 3000m PBs indicate it if the race goes fast.
- if McSweyn can go close to 12:50. His PBs in the 1500m and 3000m indicate it.

We only miss Kiplimo, Nicolas Kimeli, Rhonex Kipruto and the best American 5000m runners to make the field complete."

It became a great race and we got many answers:
- Mo ahmed is here to stay
- Mo Katir got a big breakthrough
-So did Knight which I didn´t see come
-Gebrhiwet was the only Etiophian who showed Olympic shape here. Haile Bekele seems to be out and so should Edris despite his 2 golds. Walnet, Barega and Kejelcha seem to be sharpe too (didn´t run yesterday).
- Cheptegei did show better shape but not enough to avoid to be beaten by 5
- Crippa had an offday
- So Had McSweyn
- Jakob did break 12:50 and the European Record as his 1500m and 3000m had indicated possible but he was still very happy afterwards that he was able to execute
- Henrik too had an offday
What happened to McSweyn?

I'm wondering this too. He ran a 13:05 easily a few months ago with no pacing and no competition. How does he run only 13:20 here?

Um covid, slack testing!
