Headline on that article is misleading. Transgender girls/women aren't banned from all sports. They are banned from GIRLS' sports. They may still participate in boys' sports.
Yay. He was probably reading LetsRun when he did this.

Yep. The gaslighting on this issue is surreal.
Article is a typical misleading lie by the liberal news because they are not banned from sport, they are just not allowed to compete against females because they're born a male. And you wonder why so many don't even understand the basics transgender athletes.
The media purposely creates "outrage porn" because that gets peoples attention. Inciting anger equals more clicks and money. The media is evil.

The fact that I even posted a Yahoo link disgusts me. That site/company is worthless.
I've yet to meet anyone who played sports growing up and/or understands science and the human body that actually think allowing trans females (male to female) to compete in (born) female only sports is still a level playing field. You've got the nut jobs on the far left and the media that are trying to push this "controversy"
I don't have a problem with trans girls or trans women. Sure, personally, I don't understand it and I admit that I find it sort of strange, but what other people do with themselves is none of my business and I am not going to look down on anyone for it. I have no problem with people making their own choices.
And I would have no problem with a bunch of trans ladies lining up against me (a man) on the track. It's a race and that's cool with me!
I get that, emotionally, trans girls/women may feel upset if they feel like they aren't being recognized for who they honestly feel that they truly are. What if society could just embrace and accept trans people? Then sports could just be sports. No need for heavyweights to feel upset that they are called heavy or fat just because in their heart they wish they were welterweights. And no need for any XY tracksters to feel bad about not competing against (comparitively) physically disadvantaged XX tracksters.
The only fair thing to do is ban women's sports ;). That way trans people will not feel bad.
I suspect this issue is less a "left" and "right" issue as it's being depicted. What may explain the sharp disparity of positions on this is the difference in perspective between those who follow and participate in sports and those who don't. The former dont understand how biological males can fairly participate in women's sport while the latter don't understand what difference this makes to the playing field - or simply don't care about fairness in competition, as "fairness" in society matters more - to them. That is why the position on this board is consistently opposed to transgender competing in women's sport - it is more to do with sport than politics here.
A real blow to men’s rights to complete in whatever section of sports than damn-well choose.

Saw this, its awesome.
Unfortunately the left is going to lose their minds.... I just cannot understand this for the life of me. What's going to be the tipping point where people realize that trans athletes cannot compete with women? Olympic Gold by a trans athlete?
I'm an independent who voted Democrat in the last election.
Well, now I know that he's working on the big problems in this state.
I think DeSantis could make a good run at the presidency. He's made a lot of popular, commonsense decisions on the kind of headline-grabbing culture issues that define today's media environment. He's not as much of a repellant a-hole as Trump, so he could win over people like me who are extremely turned off by the progressive/Democrat preference for identity politics over dispassionate rational analysis, but couldn't stomach voting for Trump.

Hold up, is ArmstrongLivs actually against biomales sandbagging in the girls division?
Nads McSchlongnuts is flabbergasted.

Most people are.
It's certainly not drawn down your lunatic political lines particularly when people within sport are concerned.
Although DeSantis is only doing this to please his knuckle dragging base, it's only really a fringe of people not involved in sport who oppose it.

Trans men cannot compete in the men's because "girls are going to play girls sports and boys are going to play boys sports" and they also cannot compete in the women's because many receive hormone therapy.
In what way is that not a ban?
Trans women being technically allowed to compete in the men's doesn't disguise the fact no-one on testosterone suppressants is going to be able to compete.

So you didn't click the link, much less read the article. Got it.

It is a left-right issue. You are happy to criticize posters who make homophobic, racist or anti-feminist statements (movements which originated from the left and were once radical but now have broad acceptance) yet you happily side with the Right when a nascent movement such as trans rights begins to become mainstream.
I suspect in 20 years you will be pro-trans and be laughing at those opposed to their participation and forget you did nothing at the time to help the cause.
Nah. People born male will still have a huge advantage over females in sports in 20 years.
Not everything needs to be looked at through the lens of whatever political 'team' you support.
I appreciate DeSantis is a particularly vile individual and this particular law has nothing to do with protecting girls' sport, but to excite his base. So I'm certain in the future there will need to be discourse between people who represent 'the adult in the room' much more than this guy and his Trumpist friends.
Everyone knows trans females competing in female sport is untenable. It's just there needs to be a way to negotiate the minefield of (very necessary) anti-discrimination laws.
