I am not sure how the OP called that "questionable". That's textbook FS.

Seems like a low move from Henry. Wants his athletes to come out on top. Not because they're better, but just however he can make it happen. Wouldn't say she handled it the best way but also wouldn't expect someone who really cared to just shrug it off. I'd rather have an athlete heartbroken over something like that, even if it might be a little embarrassing.
A low move from Eldrick pointing the finger at Henry and telling the athlete he is to blame.
Have some class and go home and grow up.
Low move by the officials to reinstate someone who clearly false started, thus putting a coach in the position to do their job for them and take the heat for a decision that should have been theirs in the first place.
Rule 5 Competition Procedures
SECTION 7. Protests/Disqualifications
ARTICLE 1.
a. Protests relating to singular matters that develop during the conduct of the meet should be made at once and shall not be later than 15 minutes after the results have been announced or posted for the section involving the protest. This applies to each separate event within a Combined Event and to the preliminary and final rounds of a field event if the results are announced and posted separately. All implicated coaches must be notified of a tendered protest or any disqualification.
b. Any such protest may be immediate and oral by a competitor or a competitor’s coach in order to protect and preserve evidence used in determining an appropriately filed written protest. Any communication by the athlete that requests the preservation of the evidence shall be deemed a protest.
c. The referee shall review the protest or report leading to a disqualification and shall render a decision after determining and considering available evidence. For track and field, concurrence of two referees is required when no jury of appeal is appointed. Evidence specifically excluded is all visual material, except that produced:
1) For public broadcast, public streaming or public video board presentation.
2) By an organization specifically employed for the purpose of providing video review.
3) In conjunction with officiating an event.
4) For official photo-timing.
5) As additional official video designated by the games committee before the meet.
d. Results revised because of a protest or disqualification shall be posted and announced. Coaches of competitors affected by any referee’s decision shall be notified.
e. Protests relating to Rule 1-44 (indoor) and Rule 9-44 (outdoor) shall not interrupt an event, nor result in a disqualification, once the event begins.
SMH....She clearly false started. Stevie Wonder could have seen that. I don't have a clue why they agreed to let her run by herself. She has no one to blame but herself.

What? Do you not know the rules of track & field? The starter has sole control of the start. His/her decision is final. There is no reason that Texas' protest should have even been considered other than the fact that their head coach is tight with some of the members of the games committee. When it was pointed out that the rules don't allow for a protest of a false start the original protest was denied.
Pretty simple.
And, if it is true that the Texas coach gave the athlete the Texas A&M coach's phone number then he should be disciplined by the NCAA.
Rule 15 Track Events
SECTION 2. Starting Violations/Procedures
Competitor Violations
ARTICLE 1. Violations and resulting procedures at the start of a race include:
a. If a competitor at the start of a race uses tactics obviously intended to disconcert an opponent, the competitor shall be warned by the starter and, if such action is repeated, shall be disqualified.
b. A false start may be charged to a runner who fails to comply promptly with the command “On your marks” or with the various requirements of the command “Set” after being warned.
c. If a competitor commences the starting motion after assuming a full and final set position and before the report of the pistol/starting device, it shall be considered a false start and the competitor shall be disqualified unless the starter has cancelled the start.
d. In a Combined Event, a competitor shall be warned for the first false start and disqualified only after he or she has been charged with two false starts.
Note 1: In races in which starting blocks are used, commencement of the start is defined as movement resulting in one or both hands losing contact with the ground, or one or both feet losing contact with the foot plates of the starting blocks.
Note 2: In races in which the games committee requires the use of a WA-approved start information system, the competitor shall have both feet in contact with the pedals of the starting blocks before the set command. Compliance is mandated to fulfill the requirements of the start when utilizing the WA-approved start information system.

As a coach it is your responsibility to put YOUR athlete in the best position for success.
From the info on the thread... Texas filed a protest protecting their athlete. Then Texas A&M filed a protest protecting their athlete. Both coaches were correct. The athlete had no reason to complain at Pat Henry, it was the games panel that did her in.
After watching the video I must amend my post. It was a clear FS by the athlete. First protest should have never been filed. Panel was in error for initially allowing a re-run.
No doubt about it. I don't know what she is complaining about.
No just a young women who has zero sense. She’s embarrassed her coach, her school, the sport and herself. Which I’m sure she couldn’t careless about.
You can take the girl out of the trailer park but ya can’t take the trailer park out of the girl.
There's so much more info needed, so we probably shouldn't be giving our opinions yet (even though it's more fun). Like can anyone confirm if she really FS or not? And what rule did the AM coach bring up to reverse the appeal? Either way, it still doesn't excuse her acting like a deranged, petulant child because she feels bad and life is unfair. Not sure why adults are reinforcing this behavior just because they feel bad.

FYI- trying to cast Eldrick as the bad guy, protests are posted publically at the meet. ANYONE can see who filled it, their reasoning, and the officials response. So don't use him as a scapegoat in this.
Is a false start....was their noise while in the blocks to cause a flinch? I don't know the whole situation but I'd she was initially dq'd then re-instated, very odd to reverse that judgment (but if anyone that actually knows the whole story I'd like to know)
How would She have a Coach from another Schools Number???????

That's why he wins so many national championships. Yet, this is one of the athlete's last opportunities (the last? if she's a senior) to run nationals and has been waiting probably two years to do so, so it's an obnoxious move, particularly considering that she apparently didn't false start. So, jobbed twice, but you have got to control your temper.
Chanel Brissett has One more Year of Eligibility, but she got her Masters Degree Last Week, She Got her Bachelors from USC Transferred to Texas and got her Masters in 1 Year.
If I remember correct a coach has to put a contact number on the protest form that is then posted publicly

Thanks, I would have thought it would be a Track Office Number, not a Home number.

I mean there’s video posted a ways back that just about confirms it was indeed a textbook false start
That's about as obvious a false start as there could possibly be. What on earth did they even protest about in the first place? How embarrassing for UT.
