From a women sport perspective, I think it's a really great story she is putting out there. Far too many female athletes are being shortchanged in their contracts, if they are lucky to be paid at all. She made a very brave decision, but a good and calculated one, and it's really good she is talking about it, and talking about the money she is making. I'm curious to know whether female athletes in athletics earn as much as men (I suspect in the US it's different because there is more hope for the females to break on a world stage, while it's easier for male runners to get upstaged by others), however overall in sports, there are few if any athletes in the world being paid as much as men in the NFL or in soccer for example. And it's a sacrifice, it takes dedication, it makes it harder for families. Why do we accept some dude we'll forgot the name of in the NHL or NFL get millions, and will rarely get on the game - when a popular athlete like colleen get pennies on the dime? It does sell less on TV, but this element of sports is changing. The companies do have money to put up big sponsorhips for dudes, it's about time the ladies realise their value and demand they get what they are worth.
