I heard it as an excuse for why police are allowed execute people suspected of crimes. Figured you guys would agree here?

The way that the liberals are responding here, I bet it's TRUE.
You guys make everything so political. If the story is accurate the school is being extremely unfair. The state senator trying to help the girls, Barry R. Finegold, is a Democrat.
I don't see how Amherst could possibly defend its actions in court.

Good for UMASS. Law and Order! Students need to comply with the authorities rules. Always follow the rules! If they had followed the rules everything would have been fine. They only have themselves to blame. If you do the crime, you gotta serve the time.
This is like taking away someone's driver's license for going 5 mph over the speed limit. Does the Umass administration not realize that there are thousands of students in their campus buildings drinking alcohol, doing drugs, having sex, and cheating on their schoolwork in addition to not practicing social distancing properly?

That would be me, if we were within 6’ and the mask mandate was still in effect. You’re welcome.

You mean like the NYT, WaPo, CNN, MSLSD, NBC, ABC, CBS?
How does the Congress or Presidency have anything to do with whether some university admin suspends a student over mask wearing?

No there's a very easy analogy here.
This is like taking away someone's car if they drove without a driver's license and then posted a picture of them doing so on social media.
They were told they weren't allowed to go to outdoor parties due to a rise in COVID cases. They went to an outdoor party. They didn't wear a mask. And then to top it all off, they broadcast it on Social Media for everyone to see.
I agree the consequences are too severe here, but this wasn't a minor violation. They egregiously defied the school's rules and then advertised it for the world to see. If there were the Darwin awards for getting oneself suspended from school this was it. So, yes they are idiots and plenty of teenagers are idiots, but these are some real idiots.

If you ran with a rag in your mouth for a year+ with no actual data to support that, that’s your decision, but don’t try to pretend you were doing anyone a favor
Very bad take. A public university should have little to no influence in what a student does outside on their own free time if it is off campus. Instead of letting college students live their lives, cowards like you want them to zoom 24/7.
Read you own post and look how stupid you sound. You yourself admit they were outside.
Pretty soon the left will say you can’t open the windows to your house because Covid.
I have just come from a country that mandates outside mask wearing. It is absoolutely moronic in my oinion, and apparently in the opinion of the leaders in my country (/waves at Bozzer). But thoughtseader is absolutely correct. thems the rules. and its not just masks, its social distancing etc - their behaviour appears to have been genuinely dangerous and a threat to other student (forget the outside masks, its all the rest on top). Posting it on social media almost forces the college to react.
Teenagers and students need to learn that a certain portion of the population is stupid as stupid does and when it gets caught it gets nailed. the trick is to be the people laughing at them, not being them.
Of course my kids at Uni are going to parties and i am not trying to stop them - i am asking them to be sensible and not get caught. Fingers crossed.
you dont order a daughter not to fick, you educate her not to get preggers. (same for the boys too, obv)

Agreed. Fortunately there is data to support what I did. Science! You’re welcome.
This is a ridiculous twisting of the truth.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/umass-amherst-suspends-students-maskless-photo
The reason these students were suspended was because they were at an off campus PARTY. Earlier in the semester, Amherst suspended over 200 students for attending an off campus party.
I guess the Epoch Times weren't technically lying, but these students weren't just sitting outside, by themselves, without masks on.

Please cite your data showing Covid spreading outdoors among pedestrians was ever a legitimate risk.

If the choice is a former President who supports insurrection or little Amherst College and some meaningless policy, I fear the President much, much more.
Girls just want to have fun. Probably some old crotchety white male exuding his privilege who made this decision.
