A 9:20 guy still has to work there way to do anything in D2. My school had a guy who if I remember correctly ran 9:18 in HS. They ended up running 13:37 and 28:30. That's pretty damn good improvement and I assure you they busted their ass just as much as any DI runner. The fact they were all-american many times over and done 3 individual National titles doesn't in any way diminish the work they put in or their results. You would be silly to suggest otherwise.
