The health authoritarian movement attacks by confusing people about the difference between science and ethics.
Science is the systemic use of logic to discover new knowledge.
Ethics is the field of inquiry that determines what course of action is morally right. An code of ethics is a standard of value by which one determines whether an action is morally right or wrong.
The health authoritarian movement wants to force everyone to get vaccinated and shame anyone who decides not to as "anti-vaxxers" or "anti-science." Nothing could be more conceptually distorted!
A young, healthy person who decides not to get vaccinated is actively using scientific knowledge to figure out that there is no personal benefit to his doing so because he is not at risk of getting sick from COVID-10. To such a person, the risks of a getting a vaccine, even if they are generally safe, outweigh the benefit. Logically, individuals who are at risk of complications from the virus are the ones who should get vaccinated.
The heath authoritarian movement response: your duty is to sacrifice your own individual health for the benefit of society. You have a duty to get vaccinated to protect others. If you don't want to get vaccinated, you're an ANTI-VAXXER, a SCIENCE DENIER and a RACIST!
What such people are really appealing to the morality of altruism, the moral theory that holds that one's primary moral duty is to sacrifice one's own interests for the sake of others. They want you to think that being moral means being altruistic, and that being altruistic is "science." In fact, there is no objective scientific or factual basis for altruism; is the morality of religion and the dark ages, not reason and science.
To all the young people reading this: beware the left's attempts to destroy your mind by making you think that science and authoritarianism are the same thing.
