My answer to you is simple...
I 've been a germaphobe and squeamishly careful from a young age up to current times.
I didn't share a snack with a friend in school if they had touched it
I would never sample something from either parent if they had touched the fork, even if it had not touched the plate
Hugs felt too much close for comfort
I hated crowded places because i didn't know where people had been
Then by high school, in my Bio 2 AP class my sophomore year and my Human Genetics class, I learned introductory microbiology and a bit of virology.
It allowed me to validate that my fears of germs were founded because what I was afraid of had a descriptor in science.
I didn't like to get close to anyone still
By the time I entered college and then got into the working world, I realized that a lot of adults, despite the sophisticated airs they try to give off are nasty, dirty, sniffly, snuffly pigs.
Imagine a typical offire:
Martha over there sniffles 100 times a minute
Dean? He's got the smoker's cough
Bob? Not only does he make disgusting groans you can hear from the other side of the office from the bathroom but he doesn't wash his hands then grabs a document to hand to Sally
Sally? Oh she came in with the flu today...yeah....and she friendlily pats Bob's shoulder to thank him for the document with her flu hands.
Beth? She has been sneezing multiple times today
Then you go to lunch...
Ken, behind the counter, has a cough that he conveniently calls allergies
Mary, who is making the food, has to clear her throat every 10 seconds
June, who serves the food, has just asked to leave early because she doesn't feel well.
Back (teria) from your lunch ..ha! You're in an infirmary...i mean a meeting..
Cough sniffle sniffle snuffle Cough cough throat clear coughing fit etc
And the saga continues
So now in a pandemic, people are having to use gloves, masks, ample bleaches, hospital grade disinfectant sprays, sanitizers and highly antibacterial soaps for required handwashing...
And you have to wonder for one minute WHY I support these precautions?
WOW. You have a major problem. Seek professional help.
