OCPD...at the very least.
Who do you think is outdoors Einstein? People in crowded places.
Covid-19 deaths as just reported by the CDC, for the year 2020, were 345,000. The total for people under 20 was 225.
In an earlier study the CDC states that 6% of all Covid deaths are due to Covid only. 94% involve co-morbidities.
6% of 225 equals 13 total deaths for healthy people under the age of 20. This assumes the 6% number applies to people under 20. However, considering that the vast majority of the death total is in people over 70, it's very likely the 6% figure is less for people under 20. So maybe 4 or 5 is the more likely total of young healthy people under 20 who died from covid.
Covid is a virus which attacks the lungs. Running strengthens the lungs. The best defense against dying from covid is to be outside running!! If govt should be mandating anything, it is for kids to be outside running, without masks!!! Yes, you may still catch covid, but you aren't going to die from it, if you are young, and, (here's the key word) HEALTHY!!
Personally, I will not be holding my breath waiting for govt to do anything intelligent.
Death is not the only negative outcome of contracting COVID. A lot of people remain alive and live with compromised lungs. Quoting the morbidity statistics is relatively meaningless if you care about people's well being.
Spot on! But you nailed the problem here. A solid majority of posters here just care about running. Not science, not courtesy, not decency...just running. And breaking through the subtext, if you let kids have sports without a mask, then..voila'!!! The runners can justify having races!!!! It's sad how human value changes in jocks when they can't race because they didn't diversify talents. It's tragic.
Every adult who has a pulse should be aware of this by now.
And masks impose costs, too. I know a few people who did not realize they were just a little hearing impaired until the facial cues were removed. Turns out, they were unconsciously reading lips. People with, AFAIK, completely normal hearing, ask for repetition much more often. The attenuation of speech is just an example that can be measured relatively easily. Good luck figuring out the impact on infant socialization when everyone around them is masked most of the time. By the way, how do those masks function? The ordinary ones, not the fitted, medical grade ones used in negative pressure rooms along with full body PPE. If it is by trapping the infectious material, we should handle used masks as hazardous medical waste. Evidently not, because we don't. Maybe it is by diverting exhalation somewhat. In that case, being indoors among people spaced at six feet, masks don't matter, because everyone's breath is going somewhere. After that, the mechanism starts to get pretty exotic. Maybe the mask slows down the exhalation so that the infectious material (carried by aerosol or droplet or whatever) drops to the ground. It is indeed a wonder that masks are so brilliantly effective now when they never seemed to be especially effective before, particularly against influenza. Miraculously, grocery store workers are not dropping dead, perhaps because they cheated on the masks when they thought customers could not see.
The classic, "COVID has documented severe risks but here's a few fantasy risks about masks I literally just made up to avoid being embarrassed."
Masks are a low cost public health intervention. Trying to pretend they are secretly risky when some professions wear masks hours a day is dumb.
I would like to summarize some of your comments in this and previous posts. You clearly indicated that your personal issues have impacted your view of Covid-19. You were already scared. Now you have seen the opportunity to have people feel how your felt and you are afraid to let it go. I get why you fee this way but it is ludicrous to expect others to live in the same fear you already did. I know you are fat because you have posted numerous times your obsession with weight as well as posted your own personal address. You also complained about the people on here only caring about running .....this is called “letsrun” you get what you pay for dude. That’s like complaining that a vegan restaurant doesn’t care about a good cut off beef. Duh. Finally, your descriptions of yourself do demonstrate high functioning autism. I suggest you do protect yourself on this site as when you put yourself out there on here you better be ready to take some hits. It’s part of the game.
How on earth do you have kids, a wife or a girlfriend? Being exposed to all of those things you fear gives your immune system the ability to fight those things off in the future. The chances of contracting COVID outdoors are miniscule, even Fauci admits as much.
A young immune system needs an education. The reason the death rate from H1N1 was higher for younger adults than among the elderly during Obama's administration was because the elderly already had antibodies from being exposed in their youth. The excess death rate among those under 25 has been unchanged from previous years, illustrating that the young are well equipped to deal with a COVID infection in the extraordinarily rare instance one would contract it outdoors at a youth track or cross country meet (and that immunity will carry through to the future). Honestly, your risk of contracting COVID at the store wearing your two masks (a single three-ply disposable is sufficient, the cloth masks are pretty much a fashion statement) is probably greater than your odds of contracting COVID in an 800 meter race at an outdoor track with zero masks.
https://www.ibtimes.com/fauci-confirms-covid-19-transmission-outdoors-really-low-3187798Hypochondriacs die younger. The jury is out on germaphobes. Extreme fear mongers like yourself are always good for a hearty laugh. I went to a packed water park a while back where basically nobody was wearing a mask and none in my family were any the worse for wear. The chance of contracting this outdoors is virtually nil.
No wife, girlfriend or kids..i don't like to get close to people.
But what part did you miss about the especially if you're vaccinated.
The vaccine should not be a choice if the country wants itself back.
I still stand firm that unmitigated and unvaccinated slipstream is dangerous.

Are you freaking kidding, dude?
The very direction of this thread IS about running and masks outside, such that a viewpoint regarding both is very pertinent here.
Just because you want your old normal back doesn't mean that it should be back in the same way it was.
I don't feel accomplished but these are my viewpoints and you can be darn sure that I'd have to face a firing squad for the final end before I ever switch any viewpoint for which I have conviction and absolute certainty.
This is what mental illness looks like. Needs to be said over and over so we are able to recognize it.
Ha!
You want to call it mental illness because you want what you want when you want it and how you want it and deep down, you don't care who gets sick or dies because you want to race.
If you do get someone sick, yourself, you're the kind to say...hey dude, life has risks.
It's infinitely more mentally ill to not care about people in order for you to something so insignificant to society as racing and it's even worse at your level where you stand nothing to gain except a padding of your ego which you must desperately need since you're not good enough to be meaningful to anyone else.
The science does not say this does not spread outdoors. It is much less likely to but if you have half a brain you would not say that a virus simply cannot spread outdoors. How stupid are you? If I sneezed on you 10 times while highly contagious with COVID you really think the outdoors offers a magical immunity? It must be nice being so stupid.[/quote]
The problem is not the sneezing, the problem is and continues to be no threshold and to what level of contagious the threshold is. Rapid testing has an abysmal rate of accuracy yet the high schools hang their hat on this to test athletes. I don't see the public and private golf courses testing every 60 year old before they tee off and load their fat a%% into the cart to smoke cigars and cigarettes throughout the round.

Show me the illness and deaths from a kid racing without mask on. Just because you say something doesn't mean it happens.

Pure entertainment.
Bonus entertainment for all the squealing and tears of "joy".
And just because I know you're selfish doesn't mean you are not trying to save face for my accuracy by calling me mentally ill.
Capisce?

Runner1129923 or whatever is a big troll. Very salty that the Libs are running the world now. Best not to respond to their average mind.
Ah. Got it.
And because you have been wise about science and the pandemic, I trust your judgment and will stop responding to him.
Thank you.
