What's the reason for all of the girls collapsing at the finish line of literally every race when they don't have a mask? Seems it's not the mask, girls just do this all the time
Canzano is always a bit dramatic, and he was never a track athlete that I know of. Might it be that she collapsed due to the fact she just pushed herself to run a big PR of 2:08?
Democrats are nuts. They say they follow the science, but the science says this does not spread outdoors. So they follow the fear and the mob instead.

The science does not say this does not spread outdoors. It is much less likely to but if you have half a brain you would not say that a virus simply cannot spread outdoors. How stupid are you? If I sneezed on you 10 times while highly contagious with COVID you really think the outdoors offers a magical immunity? It must be nice being so stupid.
That is not at all what the science says.
You can take the parts you like out of any clause.
Science says that the likelihood of covid spreading outdoors is lessened because of particle dissipation in the air. Lessened, not destroyed.
Moreover, this is, as science dictates, the general rule when people keep a reasonable distance and are not by each other for a prolonged time. This is why science says to social distance outside and wear a mask when social distancing is not possible. Being in someone 's breath slipstream for a period of time without any mitigation measures can be, and is, many times problematic.
Because you want normal and your racing life back is no reason to lie to yourself or others about science. Learn other hobbies.

That’s definately dangerous and I believe very unhealthy to force children to wear a mask while exercising outside. It begs the question if Oregon’s crazy governor will try and force college athletes or participants at the Olympic trials to wear a mask during their events. If not, why single out children in Oregon? If so, I hope the USATF has a plan to move the trials and the World Championships in 2022.

Idiot. No one has said that there is "no chance" because if you DO worship at the almighty altar of science, you know that you can never reduce the risk to zero, even outdoors. Not for any virus, corona, rhino, influenza, but the chances(percentages) can be SO LOW that that you can say "it does not spread outdoors." This is what is commonly accepted BY EVERONE, including the high priests and priestesses at the CDC. Leadership in Oregon top to bottom are cowering and have ignored the very advice from the organization from which they are taking advice and basing state policy and mandates on during the COVID era.
I have conveniently noticed that there weren't comments on the other 49 states mentioned in the article.
And Stoppit Smith, really, "problematic breath slipstream? Are you mental? Once again, if you are a member of the church of science, they tell us, 15 minutes in a closed room, unmasked, without circulating air, then enough particles have to get into your system past all your immune system defenses, then enough of those particles have to be picked up by the receptors so that infection occurs. You are being disingenuous if you are going to stand on that argument(that there is enough exposure in a "breath slipstream") during an outdoor track event.
All those graphic models that were splashed over the TV last summer to show the dangers of people running outside or cycling in a Peloton during The Tour were soundly debunked as false and not supported. This isn't "lying to oneself" it is what is being put out there. The problem most coaches and people in general have is the utter lack of consistency by which you and your ilk try to righteously stand by "your proof" that you are right.
The faceplant by the HS girl running 2:08 shows you, and the leadership of the State of Oregon are wrong.
You are not very bright. I hope you are not molding today’s idiots. The other poster lied and you then, not being bright, tried to call me an idiot for exposing his lie. Please educate yourself although you are not bright enough to do anything but maybe teach and coach. I did not weigh in on the main thread topic as I simply exposed a poster’s lie.
Look, pal.
If you are a diligent coach and not one who just needs the competition, I'd like you to read about slipstream and covid...there are articles out there.
If you don't, you're just freaking selfish.
If you do and find you're wrong, you should apologize to every member of your team for being wrong (fyi: You're wrong).
But there is no way in God's green earth or even Satan's he** that I am going to stand for a HS coach weighing in on this vehemently without having read anything about it just because he or she is a freaking high school coach.
No freaking way, bud.
She went out in 61. That is pretty horrific pacing for a 2:08 finish. And I have seen many girls go face first at the finish line in HS track meets. There is a famous XC video where dozens of girls pass out at the finish line on a warm day.
That being said, outdoor mask mandates are mostly unnecessary. Zeynep Tufecki and others have been writing for some time about how it is bad public health policy to be restricting outdoor activities due to the extremely low transmission risk outdoors. In fact, a huge missed opportunity in the pandemic has been ventilation and moving activities outdoors whenever possible. Public health official could have had better compliance on bans of high risk indoor activities if they allowed outdoor activities and worked to improve ventilation when indoor activities could not be held outdoors (court, prison, meat packing, grocery, etc.).
Moronic Oregon coach when you say a virus does not spread outdoors you do not know what the language means. Please do not coach others. IF you want to say that the virus is not as easily transmitted to others outdoors that is fine. Please retire if you cannot utilize the language with veracity.

THE SCIENCE has told us over and over and over again, that the 6 foot, 15 minute rule has been settled. How long are these kids in close proximity in an OUTDOOR track meet?
They train together longer than 15 minutes.

Fair.
And if I die a safety -driven peabrain who listened to the safety guidelines and didn't decide to be a dumb risk-taker who was fine affecting others or myself, just to prove I was rugged, I'm cool with that.
I'm not rugged? Ok
I have a peabrain? Ok
I'm lonely! Ok
We don't see who is around us at the moment of death. We won't remember who surrounded us on our death bed because after they do, we're gone.
But if, on my death bed, despite my naysayers, I can say that I did the best I could to protect me and those around me, those words go up the Lord.
And his judgment is all that will count.
Alpha, Beta, Omega...all count, regardless of where you are on the scale.
But there's a nice seat in he** for your viewpoint.
Hope you are rugged enough for the flames.

Thank you for illustrating my point so effectively. I could not have painted a better picture of a Democratic Fear Monger any better had I tried.
Go back to your hiding place with your HEPA filtration and your five gallon bucket of hand sanitizer. I will continue to enjoy watching my daughters and their friends play soccer and run races without masks with no ill effects.
And yes, I mean it.
Act like that and put yourself where your mouth is
