Is Ben Rosario now on his own? Story?
Is Ben Rosario now on his own? Story?
yes
now working for St. Louis marathon.
good move on his part.
Ben (and his teammates) still consider Ben a part of the team. He is a strong believer in the program and has continued the same training that he did with the program. His leaving was for a chance to work in the industry something that is a lifetime goal.
Makes sense. Everyone has to move on at one point in their career, but the work ethic installed by the Hansons will last a lifetime. Thanks for the info.
Ben did make some changes to workouts and such when he left the program.
Looks like it worked pretty well. He looked pretty strong finishing 2nd at TCM.
Well, he might have changed some of the workouts a little bit, but he sure as hell still follows the same race plan as Hansons dictates. He might have even adjusted that type of race plan a little, but not as much as other Hanson alumni who started that race.
You can call me crazy but this thread seems like a back handed way of giving the credit for Rosario's performance to the Hanson's and at the same time, alluding to leaving Hanson's being the reason for Cordes disappointing performance.
I know the Hanson's have vowed to never post here again, and I'm sure they haven't since there are no posts under their names (ha), but it seems like some of the posters here have some motivation behind the way they have chosen to write their posts.
In my opinion, both Rosario and Cordes have too much class to ever publicly say anything against the Hanson's. So only people close to them will ever know how they feel the program benefitted or hurt their running. I will respect them enough to not speak for either of them.
Here is what it boils down to though. One had a bad race, one had a great one. They both changed things in their training from when they left the program. But to give credit to the Hanson's for Rosario's performance and to say it was because Cordes no longer trains in the program that he ran poorly, is disrespectful to both athletes and really unfair. The Hanson's can't have it both ways. They are PR masters and try to spin everything relating to the program in a positive light but the fact is they had little to nothing to do with either athletes success or failure. And they have no right to take any credit for any former athlete's performance unless they are still coaching them or the athlete gives them credit in some way.
Rosario was classy and thanked the Hanson's for their help but I'm pretty sure he was the one who ran the race and developed the race strategy. So whatever Hanson's groupies and hangers on are on here posting this BS Hansons propaganda should probably save their opinion for the next time they feel the need to blow sunshine up the brothers Hanson's asses at the Thursday night run in Royal Oak.
I can assure you that Ben did not develop his work ethic while running for the Hansons. I've known him for a long time and he has always had a hard-core work ethic. He is extremely self-motivated and goal-oriented. He was a hard worker at St. Louis University High School, at Truman State, at Hansons, and now as a self-coached professional runner. He still does many of the Hanson style workouts, but also occasionally does his own thing. I've never heard him say a negative thing about Hansons. He left on good terms. He left because he could not pass up the job opportunity with the St. Louis Marathon

well said coach N., well said. Do you think the fact that you kind of look like hillary swank helps you appeal to your new runners? love, judbuttson
PS. I will be in the STL drinking you under the table before you know it. GO CARDS!!!
Cordes got kicked our because he dated a girl on the team. He is pissed about that, but he knew the rules. Saying that Nick is a great guy and will be back
I went to dinner with Kevin Hanson and Ben Rosario the night before the marathon. Both seemed to have a great deal of mutual respect. It sounded like Ben had set up his own workouts (many of them the same) based on his experiences in Michigan. Kevin was excited for Ben's chances the next day. Kevin even shared his top 10 predictions which included Ben, Nick, and Kyle Baker. I don't think you will find either of the Bros. wanting failure to come to any of their former athletes. They brag about any athlete that has a michigan connection. That includes athletes that have never had any connection with the Hanson-Brooks Distance Project like Pilja and Ernsberger and the other Michigan State kid that finished in the top 10.
Both Kevin and Keith are pretty busy with coaching and traveling and running 4 stores. Believe me when I say that they are not on this site 24/7. I can't even get them to answer my emails most of the time. So I don't believe that they are posting without using their real names.
While we're on the topic of hanson's alums at TCM, terry shea was 12th in 2:24:50. A solid time and place.

Go Cards is right!!
How's life? I am running Chicago this weekend with Deutman, and others.
There are many sides to a Hanson Brother.
"The other Michigan State kid in the top-10"=Brant Lutz, 5th place, right next to my boy Dave Ernsberger. A nice job to both.
"The other Michigan State guy in the top-10"=Brant Lutz. He was 5th place, right behind my boy Dave Ernsberger from Central Michigan University. A nice race for both.
life is good, man. I'm getting back into training again after a seriously brutal summer of grad school. That's awesome that you guys have a strong wash u group doing chicago again. Best of luck to you and deutman.
if you still keep in touch with joecon, i'll be able to get in touch with you guys for some beer-pounding when i'm in town for the playoffs. peace.
