Holy Smokes this is impressive:

Definitely in 13:1x shape.
I couldn't even break 66 on the final four and here this guy is running 53 😳

Ferlic is overblown. BTC could run that workout at altitude. The reason it's not that impressive is because of the long rests.
And closing in 66 at 15 or 16 is pretty good.
YAWN
Who cares? This guy will blow up in the Oly trials. There will probably be about 3 BTC guys, Chelimo, and two collegiate athletes ahead of him.
He should honestly just call it quits if his big thing is "having the fastest Michigan workout"

Umm isn't Ferlic's event the steeple? Jager will dominate, Hillary Bor is really good, but that third spot seems fairly wide-open.
Jager, Ferlic, McGorty, Bor in close 4th
I think he could make top 3. Although I haven't seen him do any steeple work recently so not sure how fit he is in that area
The fastest Michigan would technically just be the fastest ever 8 mile run.

You make no sense
Why did you post a video of your workout? Who cares?

Pretty bad take. You mad this isn’t a political thread, bro?

We need proof
Ferlic says he is only running what he is running because of his shoes, so I'm not impressed. He either needs to take back what he said about how the dragonfly spikes are the reason he ran roughly 13:25, or say that he only runs the Michigan fast because he himself is in fact fast. Can't say both things.
What is the "official" structure of the Michigan workout? I always thought it was more continuous and didn't realize there was complete rest between all the different reps.
Are his rests the standard amount people use? Also, was there a point where he took rests not logged here?

The “official” Michigan is as follows:
1600m on the track
(~60s jog to the roads)
2k road tempo loop (not a super easy loop)
(~60s jog back onto the track)
1200m on the track
(~60s jog to the roads)
2k road tempo loop
(~60s jog to back onto the track)
800m on the track
(~60s jog to the roads)
2k road tempo loop
(~60s back onto the track, although sometimes they take time to put on their spikes for the 400)
400m on the track as fast as you can go
It’s pretty close to a race effort of a workout. Used more as an indicator of fitness, because the workout has been done for so long at UM, Coach Warhurst knows what the splits say an individual is ready to run in a race.
You get very little “breathers” throughout the workout. The “rest” is really the tempo loop, which apparently Ferlic averaged 4:50 pace.
It says he only closed in 53. Didn’t the high schooler Hobbs Kessler close in 50 flat? He is slower then a high schooler...he will not be winning anything
If I'm reading the workout correctly it looks like he didn't follow that - he took more like 2 minutes between most reps and 5 minutes before the 400.
Didn't he take at least a 2 minute "breather" between every rep?
