Idk, the clock is starting to tick a little for Rupp. He's 34 and has been training at a high level for two decades. He has had some more serious injuries in recent years. The 10k seemed to be his sweet spot and he hasn't altogether panned out at the marathon. He is definitely a racer. I would never count him out of a podium spot for most marathons but he has had opportunities to run fast in the new shoes and hasn't over the half and full.
Hasn't panned out in the marathon? Two time trials champion, Chicago champion, an Olympic medal, and twice 2:06 with haglunds deformity and you say "hasn't panned out."
I guess by that measure, we haven't had any American pan out since the 70s or early 80s ...
Didn't think that was overly controversial. I'm not here to knock him (doping conversation aside). For someone well under 27:00 (+ Oly Silver), I don't think he has panned out on the global scene in terms of time. He dominates the US, yes, but someone with his 10k should be faster over 13.1 & 26.2.
You read everything I wrote right? I like him to podium almost any race he enters. He's a racer. All I'm saying is that I would have expected him to pop off some faster times on the roads.
On the top-10 marathon all-time list, Rupp has a faster 10k pb than everyone minus Bekele. Nearly everyone in there has broke an hour. Rupp did that, what, once? On an aided course?
Hey burke, the plural of "best" is bests, not "best's", but you probably should have used the singular form anyway.
Your predictions of Rupp's future times strike me as fantasy and wishful thinking.
This is a message board.
People who are sitting there correcting someone's spelling and grammar - why? I find it so odd. Do you really feel it's your place to try to amend what someone has written or take on the role of teacher?
It's not high school. It's not university. This isn't an essay, a competition or something that's marked.
I don't really understand what on earth would motivate someone to write a correction. Apps are widely available for those purposes. If someone wants to use an app or service they can. It's their choice.
People haven't had the same educational opportunities in life. Some people have a PhD, some didn't finish high school. Some went to special schools and so on.
Everyone should be able to take part without being criticised for how they spell. It's just sad - and a bit pathetic to be honest.
Bit sad as well that there are posters that I thought were reasonable people doing this. I guess insecurity does out in the end.
Well I enjoy it, I’m sorry you can’t.

Low 26 in the 10000
Well under 58 in the Half marathon, Possible World Record, He is probably better than Jacob Kiplimo at 10000 to the Marathon as it takes a long time to develop for Endurance Races so a 20 Year old wont beat Rupp at 10000 to the Marathon, J. Kiplimo and J. Ingebrigtsten would likely beat Rupp at 1500, 3000 and 5000.
I say 2:02 in the Marathon I don't think he beats Kipchoge's Record of 2:01.39
Because of Covid Rupp has not had an opportunity to run in the new shoes where everyone is getting massive Personal Best's so he will clearly (Based on everyone else getting huge Personal Best's) smash his times of 26:44 for 10000, 59:47 for Half Marathon and 2:06.07 for the Marathon, it will be exciting to see by how much.
He was already running with track super spikes at Rio 2016. Made no difference
If only there was a poster who knew what Rupp's ceiling is!
The way you write is nonsensical.

Douglas Burke what you fail to grasp is that Galen is fairly close to being a has been. Gale will NEVER run faster than 27:15 even in the new shoes. Galen will NEVER run faster than 2:06 even in the new shoes. Galen had his time in the sun but now he is an aging runner who won’t even be the best U.S. marathoner by the fall of 2022.
Burke is too bust stalking young uns to fully understand the failure of the Rupp(tured anus).
You are truly insufferable. It shouldn't be so easy to detect insecurity...
All the analysts were saying the Atlanta course is 2 minutes slower than a typical marathon course. That would already put Rupp at 2:06.
He was still coming back from surgery in that race and was clearly not racing 100%
If he was racing on the Berlin course instead of a tactical Olympic race in hot and humid conditions I could see anywhere from 2:03-2:05 and it wouldn’t surprise me.
I think 2:01-2:02 might be a reach as Rupp is getting up there in age, but who knows.
