I'd still bet on Hocker. A few faster times, but still say Hocker.
Even though Morgan MacDonald would've come up a little short IMO, would've loved to see NCAA Morgan vs Hocker in a 5K.

Teare is supposedly the better 5k runner of the two. Teare's 5k PR is 13:17. Go down the NCAA list and there are plenty of people that would beat him, especially after you give them the new spikes.
I’m a SHOCKER simp but this is getting ridiculous, I don’t think he could beat everyone in history just yet

You can't just go by PR's.

He ran a 3:50 & has been unleashing 25 sec kicks, getting better since.
Falcon would not be beaten so easily by Hocker.

Not would many others. Don’t feed the troll.
Henry Rono might run 7:27 in these shoes.

That’s the 1 metric in track and field. Yes you can.

*Nor would
He still hasn’t beat Teare head to head in a 1500. Not saying he couldn’t, but it seems like everyone is forgetting how quality Cooper is

So Emmanuel Saina was a better marathoner than Samuel Wanjiru?
I'm not sure Hocker could outkick Hobbs Kessler, to be honest. Dude closed his 32 in 55... just like, well, you know.
Much less Ches, Falcon, Maree, others.

The OP is a troll, but you must be too. Hocker closed a faster 3k in 54 at the NCAA champs.
Hocker isn’t even the best in history from his own university never mind the whole NCAA.
3:30 Andy Wheating, bronze medal Centro, 84’ Joaquim Cruz all clap his cheeks over 800/1500 imo. Then there’s Ches & Rupp & Jenkins over 3/5 plus Teare & Rudy Chapa
Two words.
Bernard Lagat.
Off the top of my head, Wheating ran 3:30 the summer after his senior year and made the Olympic 800 team after his Sophomore year I think. Rupp may have been able to take him down at 3k, I think it'd be pretty close between him and Ches. Those are just people from his school though. Not to mention Centro won bronze at WCs after his sr year I believe.
Beats everyone in 13:18
Hocker would SMOKE Ches from 1500-5k. Ches might win in a 10k.
Ches' kick is overrated. His form was crappy. When challenged, his form breaks down even more and he just dies.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
2024 College Track & Field Open Coaching Positions Discussion

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
