So the British announced their Olympic team today. They had two pick 2 of the following 3 women.
Which two would you pick. I've removed their names so there is no bias.
Runner A

Runner B
29 years old.

Runner C
Age 30 y ears old
Pbs: 15:29 (2015), 32:33 (2019 road) 71:34 (2019) and 2:25:29 (2019)
Other: 36th world xc in 2019, Zero races in 2020 or 2021, Her 2:25:29 is her only marathon finish and she won the race (she has one other DNF).
Allright, let me help you out. The British, as I would have, picked Runner A for the team. While she has the slowest marathon PB, she's the only one to have recorded a finish in any race in the last 2 years. She ran great in 2020 with a 68:55 half marathon pb and seemingly has the most upside with her faster 5k , 10k and half marathon pbs.
I think that's the right call. So which runner would you pick for the final spot - B or C.
Given the fact that never has raced in two years, I think it's almost an impossible task. I was initially leaning towards Runner B given her superior half marathon pb. That being said, I can see why the selectors might think Runner C won ther 2:25 race so maybe she can go faster as she's barely raced the marathon.
To be honest, I think they should be forced to race each other or prove some sort of fitness. They are very similar on paper so I'd want to see some proof of current fitness.
I'll tell you who they picked in a few hours.
