Apologies in advance, but has anyone been able to give an actual answer as to why the theys/thems don’t referred to themselves as “we” instead of “I” when speaking?
It seems that it would be consistent, right? If you ask people to refer to you as plural entities, wouldn’t you refer to both of yourselves as “we”?
You’re asking the whole world around you to modify English language to describe you. Why not make some concessions on your end and keep it consistent?
Nicki: ‘I identify as THEY/THEM, I do not identify as a WOMAN’
Track and field: ‘which race would you like to enter?’
Nicki: ‘WOMENS RACE, I’M A WOMAN’
Shouldn't all you anti trans folks be happy with this? Hiltz is competing in the category that matches what's under her shorts. Isn't this what you want?
There was a day when people kept their sexual/gender/perverted preferences to themselves, not scream them from the highest roof top. She is just another attention addict. Nikki, good for you, we don't care.

That is half the battle, yes, though I don’t think anyone expects a woman to make it in men’s sports, so Nikki running as a woman isn’t much of a thing. The other half of the battle is getting people to admit you can’t actually change your sex (gender, whatever word you want to use) and that non-binary isn’t actually a real thing.
Who cares about her gender preference? Not I. Unless it’s a biological male trying to compete against females then this is just another distraction that our sport doesn’t need.
Tumblr, and then twitter after tumblr decided it didn't want to host child pornography anymore. Weird young outcasts, people with autism spectrum disorders, and just plain psychopaths on tumblr and similar sites all found each other and had to outweird one another to gain attention
I’d really like to focus on this paragraph. Just a lot of buzz words and hate towards different groups with zero factual basis. Classic Letsrun.
Didgeridingo's analysis is spot on. Transgenderism in its current political form is largely a social contagion that can be traced to Tumblr. So much of it also stems from autogynophilia.
These people are not well and no amount of normalization and rewriting of the DSM will make them well.

^ This stinks of poorly educated right wing News. Gender dysphoria has been around forever. Autogynophelia would explain only a very small portion as the vast majority transgender males desire to be male at all times, not simply around women, and most have little libido. Transgendered people may be technically mentally ill, like a lot of other people walking around amongst us. Not sure why it peaks your opinion so much.
🏳️⚧️ COMING OUT 🏳️⚧️ as transgender, non-binary.

Hi I’m Nikki and I’m transgender. That means I don’t identify with the gender I was assigned at birth. The word I use currently to describe my gender is non-binary. The best way I can explain my gender is as fluid. Sometimes I wake up feeling like a powerful queen and other days I wake up feeling as if I’m just a guy being a dude, and other times I identify outside of the gender binary entirely. It’s complicated and complex and something I’m still trying to navigate myself, but I’ve decided it’s time to share my gender fluidity with you all. Posting this is both exciting and terrifying but I am and always will be a firm believer that vulnerability and visibility are essential in creating social change and acceptance. So here I am, once again, coming out of a closet to be my true authentic self.

Today I can be visible because of the many Trans folks who have paved the way for me. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you and happy trans day of visibility to my beautiful and powerful trans family 🏳️⚧️💗

What I do not understand is why are they pushing this? They are especially targetting VERY Young Children in Schools, Why not let it be Organic/Happen Naturally ig it Happens and leave it between the kid and His or Her Parents.
The Fact that they are pushing this (Especially on Children) sure makes it seem Evil pushed by people who have some Agenda.
If the usatf went the same route as the marathon majors and included a non-binary category, how quickly would Hiltz go back to female? After the first or second loss to a non-binary bloke?

That's why he said "in its current political form." The number of people identifying as trans has skyrocketed in the past 5 years, and it's mostly in kids and young adults. This is a social contagion, a fashion statement. 20 years ago most of these kids would have just been scene or goth, but today's counterculture fad happens to be trans. A lot of the people I knew who were scene/goth 20 years ago also happen to identify as trans or non-binary, JUST as it started to become popular. These are people who have appropriated a mental illness to compensate for a weak identity.

I'm speaking as someone who passionately believes that cis women should have their own category in sports and cis women competing against trans women or DSD women is unfair.
With that being said the above comment is weird, and crazy. Why do you care so much how people identify? The truth is that transgender people have always existed in society and you have to admit that the lengths trans people go (extensive surgery, getting outcast, losing family/friends, potentially fired from jobs etc.) really prove that trans isn't some "trend" or "fad", it's real and people are really trans. I think Non binary is a little odd. But I am also not bothered that people want to identify this way. I'm not in their heads. It doesn't really affect me if people want to identify as non binary or go by they/them, I say to each their own.
Setting rules to make sure things are fair, and safe for all are important, but going out of your way to control how people think, what they believe, or who they can be in their own lives is ridiculous and an overstep. I went to high school a while back (late 90s early 00s). Back then gay and lesbian people were treated with the same sort of vitriol that we're seeing with trans/non binary people today.
"They just want attention!"
"I'm not homophobic or anything BUT."
"It's just a trend."
"Why is everyone GAY suddenly!?"
Every single person who was gay in high school is gay today. And there are more who followed thereafter. This is what happens in an accepting society.
